Those screenshot 2 pages back look like it's perfectly capable of running on consoles. I don't see what all the fuss is about, or what makes those screenshots so impressive.
i m fine with the city size but i just wish they split it up in 3 regions instead of one thing.
its more fun "unlocking" cities like in old gta games.
I was actually thinking about that earlier, I guess everything will be accessible right from the start then, eh? I also enjoyed unlocking parts of the map while playing through the campaign.

i guess they can use some of the bridges to limit access to upper areas of the map, also maybe construction site borders for parts of the city, we ll see.
the marketing should go overboard, they need to remind everyone who doesn't track these things that hey theres a new grand theft auto.
because i think everyone i know who has seen it advertised is buying it (gamers, casuals, non-gamers...all of them (the ones who have a ps3 for blu ray and netflix). the GTA brand is just that powerful.. so really its just exposure that limits the sales this game will have, and they are making sure thats not an issue.
this game will make triple its budget easily.

They want to have three characters accessible from the start who live in three different neighbourhoods. Starting on a section as small as the initial sections of the previous games wouldn't work.
If you live in LA, you know the area they use is really small. Kind of bummed I cannot get to my house as they seem to say it's only woods above Hollywood. At least with Streets of LA I could get close to my house.
Have you seen Max Payne 3 on consoles? It doesn't look that far off. It's not like models here are very high poly.
As you yourself said, back in the MP3 thread when I expressed hope for GTAV after MP3 looked and ran so superbly; MP3 is a corridor shooter, not an open-world one. It's easy to put high levels of detail and great lighting when you only have to render smaller areas. I'm still waiting to see what the catch is for the PS360 to run the game looking like this with all the supposed content it contains because if everything shown so far really is from the PS360 then I'm very impressed
Yeah lets hope it will look as good as in the screenshots and truly still run at 30 fps.
And lets also hope they will put the same effort of optimization into the PC version.
