beta patch doesn't even fix the one problem it's meant to fix, at least for me.
Campaign map framerate is still bad and the biggest problem persists, where selecting a unit then getting close to an enemy unit with the cursor causes the framerate to drop like mad.

I didn't see "increase in average performance" mentioned in the patch note. "Stuttering" is what I saw Wink

So you say you´re playin on campaign map with a reasonable fps without stuttering?

Yes, but of course, that is if you consider 36 fps average to be reasonable.

Btw yesterday, pretty far into my easy as pie rome campaign, everyone has suddenly started declaring war on me.
I'm now at war with 21 factions and I didn't even declare 1 of those myself. It's pretty crazy and I'm actually having some fun now that I got enemies on all fronts Smile

36 fps ? that's nothing too bad. It's not unreasonable anyway and certainly well playable.

The biggest performance issue I've noticed with the campaign map is when selecting units. My fps goes from 60 to 30 if I click on one of my spies or generals, and stays that way until I deselect them.

I too noticed some weird framerate drops when selecting them, I guess it's all normal then. Razz At least I don't have any stuttering for now, but the game still looks like it was released in 2006. Sad

I wonder why you guys are having these bad graphics. The game looks gorgeous here, and the closeup on units is pretty too. I don't have those zombie faces some people have been posting Very Happy

I would assume most people know by now, but remember to tick the "Use more memory" or whatever it's called option. Otherwise your graphics might get automatically downgraded on-the-fly while you're playing.

so you're saying, that you can't play a turn based (part of the) game @36 fps ?

And don't answer, this is rhetorical.

i don't have many performance issues, so i'm looking at it from a purely objective point of view. Someone tells me 36 fps, or dips to 36 fps or average 36 fps, then to me that is more then fine, for a TURN BASED GAME (since we're only talking about campaign here).

Is it perfect ? no. Is it badly optimized ? Most likely (common, it's a basically static map lol).

But unplayable or a reason to call it so ? Hell no. No way.

People being elitists ? More likely Smile

Interinactive again not understanding anything and twisting my post around ?

Hell yeah.

It's rather pathetic really. All of your posts are just of poor quality and of very poor understanding of the topic discussed.

Because that is the only way to respond to some of your posts. No amount of facepalms will justify anything that you write sometimes.

And yes, we all try to twist your posts around so we look like a bully and you are just innocent kid who gets picked on. Seriously? Move on with that stuff because it's getting really tiresome.

I'm out.

The thing that "bothers" me is that it seems like the game is barely using my GPU (old GTX 275) - the fans don't even speedup. Yesterday I've checked the temperature after watching part of my replay (another strange thing - I had less FPS in the replay than when actually playing the battle) and it was only 58 degrees, while I know that the highest one I can achieve on this card is 93 on GPU heavy games. Hell, I've got around 40-45 in idle I think

Haven't checked my GPU usage but I've seen reports that the game is only using like 50% of GPU power.

friend of mine tried the prologue yesterday. His game got stuck on the Bovianum battle, he can't seem to finish battle first siege. He also didn't understand the protective cover are not rams. Odd thing is he got the completion video but it just rolled back to the siege but with no choice to exit out of siege or press for attack. Only choice, start over again. Needles to say he was so unimpressed he's decided not to bother playing anymore. Not very clever for someone new to the series.

Someone posted on a TW forum that they found this in the game files.Would be interesting to know whether it's true or not. May be some indication where this series is going.

just lends more credibility to the fact the game is a half arsed mess rushed out for SEGA. Who knows.

well to be fair, pretty much every game in existence has stuff cut out for release that just isn't ready but remains in the files... there is nothing special about that.

Also radial menus don't immediately mean it's for consoles. Weren't radial menus in shogun 2?

It's kinda funny Sin... Rome 2 is just as broken as Simcity, and you burned that game to the ground without actually even playing it... Now again you are ranting, but still defending a game that you (again) haven't paid a dime for... And then calling people pathetic when they disagree...

Grow up will ya? I'm sure you were bullied a lot in high school... but there's no need to blame people for it here..

And this game is seriously broken... I'm just running between Carthaginian cities in Africa raiding one city after the other with one general. Once I raid one, the remaining forces of the previous battle take it back so I can retake it again... My bank amount is huge.. I can rebuild conquered cities so fast that the overthrown barbarians don't even think about rioting. I can already build the strongest troops in almost every city. And where the hell is Hannibal?

Never argue with a fool, he will only drag you down and beat you on experience...
