I want to play this game with the best quality I can get from my Xbox.
I'm using the VGA cable.
My monitor is native 1920x1200 (16x10)
if I set the xbox to 1920x1080, the monitor blinks for a bit then sets itself to 1680x1080, filling the screen but cutting off the sides.
if I use 1680x1050 its fine, but am I losing quality by upscaling?
or
Should I just set the xbox to 1280x720 so there is no upscaling done by the xbox?

Egh, it's just another needless expense. I honestly don't see any interference or issue when playing the 360 over VGA and while I have no doubt SN can have an impact, I've yet to see it either for myself or on any tangible visible comparisons online. I haven't seen a single comparison of VGA vs HDMI that shows HDMI have any noticeable IQ improvement of any kind  |
i just run hdmi>dvi (old monitor) and toslink to the pc, switch hdmi at the box for tv play and have toslink from tv to reciever
vga and hdmi should be exactly the same iq as far as i know |
One is analog, the other digital. They "should" be exactly the same under lab conditions with no interference on the analog signal. That's not what happens with VGA cables. |

always let the xbox handle the scaling it uses a hana chip to do it, wich is way better than your average monitor scaling
