How could anyone find these hard lines and ugly ugly game style appealing. Obviously, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but damn, what a horrible horrible look. Perhaps a desperate attempt to wink at the Minecraft players? Not sure, and not that I like Minecraft's visual style or its effect on so many unimaginative and lazy developers trying to capitalize from this style, but at least Minecraft has some charm which is very difficult to copy. Certainly not copied here. Indeed, the Black and White series had a much better visual appeal.
I completely agree with you Leo, I'm not a fan of this stylized play-dough visuals either..
When it comes to these games, details and beautiful environments count nearly as much as gameplay for me, since they're huge part of the experience. A Black & White without its impressive graphics and animations (for that time) wouldn't have been a very successful game.
From Dust is an example of a game whose visual design I really liked. It was bogged down technically by incompetent developers, but its design still stands.
I don't mind the "artistic" design in these types of games, if they can bring upfront some truly deep and rewarding gameplay, that is. It's Molyneux though ...

There doesnt seem to be a lot of variety... He seemed surprised when asked if there was any other way to gain followers from the opposition apart from battle
What is wrong with you people? I played a lots of games from this man: Powermonger, populous Dungeon keeper, Black and white, Magic carpet, Theme hospital and i played a hundreds of hours and have fun. So if he makes only shit games from now, i will still worship him cause you cant name any other designer who have so much good games and ideas.
Or you want an other generic shooter with different textures and graphic engine?

Oh common, you know that is not true. Sure there aren't hordes of those anymore but those kind of designers were always a small group. Needless to say if they keep bringing crap out their name is going to the crappers. That doesn't mean his older work gets slagged

Basically Populous with no cool god powers and significantly more tedium.
I really hope they add a lot more to it before release
ETA apparently the god powers show up later, but the first few hours are nothing but incessant clicking tedium
Like I said before, Black & White sucked and that's one of the reasons why - Mollyneux's games have terrible pacing. He takes too long to give you the "full experience" in a sort of bad tutorial way which you can't skip. B&W took ages before you had everything you needed and even then he took some of it away during later parts of the game.

In Black & White you finally unlocked everything and then they took it away again and the game ended
Bought this anyway, it's a ridiculous clickfest but can see some potential. Can't help but like Molyneux stuff, even with all the flaws and silly pre-release boasts.
That was pretty obvious from their kickstarter pitch
Ahhh, Peter Molyneux. I seriously cannot fathom why anyone would still believe any of his promises . I mean after Popolous none of his games came close to what he said they would be. None.
Godous may be his saving grace, but if he screws this up there will be no "my publisher made me do it" excuse.

Theme Park was the only game of his (Syndicate wasn't really his doing) that I really enjoyed and that was more to do with the quality of the art, sound, music and general atmosphere because the game itself had quite a few design flaws.
Dungeon Keeper was a prime example of a game of his - released years late and the one element which he constantly boasted about, was pointless and weakly done i.e. the first person element. People were expecting a proper FPS game but what we got was a really poor first person "scratch 'm up". Since you constantly had to monitor what your creatures were doing during combat, it did more harm than good.
Dungeon Keeper 2 (which was made after he left) was actually better.
