I always wished they'd do this but never expected that they actually would.
This bodes well for D3's future. Perhaps Reaper of Souls can save it's soul.

Yeah, I definitely didn't expect that. But it's a good news, at the end of the day I hated auction house (RM as well as gold)

If they get rid of the online requirement I might actually check this out.

Wow, really? I might actually want to play it now. Never liked the idea of the AH. Not going to lie though, the couch version is pretty fun right now Spoiler: | don't hate... |

Took them long enough.
Offline mode would only work of course if the characters wouldn't transfer to online.
You should see the PS3/X360 version. Your characters are saved locally.
As in, you can use other peoples savegames or edit your own.
People are cheating like crazy.
And it sucks.

That's how it worked for D1 and D2 as well. You had local and LAN characters and you had BNET secured characters. With the removal of the AH (which certainly took long enough and should never have been part of the game in the first place) and with the upcoming Loot 2.0, perhaps.. just perhaps.. the game can claw back some good will, but that online restriction needs to go. If it means that Blizzard has to separate "local" and "online" characters, so be it.

its bad news, it means they havent figured out how to make loot 2.0 work and this is just a fucked up panicked move.
all that dev time and patches WASTED on a fucking feature they ill now close, are you shitting me, bots will be rampant again and so will third party trade sites. the spice must flow. Shit just got worse and its admissal they dont have a fucking clue what they are doing.

good to see the fucking ah gone. i made good money with it but it was bad for the game itself. so far i dont care about online restriction since i prefer to play with friends. but should be easy for them to include a offline mode with seperate characters like sabin said

no no no. this is great news. there isn't a single scenario where this is bad news, so don't even try.

without gah, i will probably stop playing (is not like i was playing a lot lately anyway), and will not get the expansion.
i need a sane way to trade crap.
poe style is shit, trade chat spam is shit, trading in forum is shit, renaming games session is shit. to be online to trade 100 items is shit, in a game in which you get 1000x items/h.
anyway, removing the rmah was an unexpected move, and they get a well done from my part.

I agree with this, will def get expansion now, they will need to implement some way to trade now (I do not count trade channel spam) and it will perhaps we a great game finally.

was ok in 2001. and few years later (not to many).
if you expect to use a search form in a forum to find an item, i presume that you would love a possibility to do that ingame. and to be able to actually play the game, not retarding spamming "WTS 1xlegendary" for few hours in a trade channel.
and i'm not touching again the subject named "poe trade"

Great news, really unexpected. It takes balls to admit a mistake, I'm glad to see Blizz finally grew some.
I'm a bit sad for Russ80, though. All those future millions lost...

I thought he earned enough from the RMAH to buy a controlling stake in Blizzard, no?

Quite unexpected! I quit playing Diablo 3 for many reasons, but the biggest of them all was AH. Now, maybe with the expansion I can go back. Before the launch of D3 I saw Blizzard as capitalistic pigs, but this move certainly shows unselfishness and care for the users.
