Anyone noticed that upon installing the expansion pack:
A. Rome: Total War (Original) is updated from v1.2 to v1.3
B. Rome: Barbarian Invasion uses THE SAME Autosave as THE ORIGINAL Campaign. Thus, if you play the ORIGINAL And the EXPANSION, make sure to do a hard save, and not just rely on Autosave, as it will be overwritten!
Are there patch notes anywhere for the 1.3 changes to the original campaign brought on by the expansion?
Apparently 1.2 introduced a bug that flipped difficulty (hard became normal, normal became hard), which would explain why I am getting my ass kicked now , as it seems to be fixed heh.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Is it harder than Rome? I played at Very Hard/Very Hard before i switched to Rome Total Realism and that was too easy. V.hard on the campaign map only made your enemies bribe more and attack more (with less men).
Also do i have to install another copy of Rome now? Cause i guess Barbarian Invasion wont agree with Total Realism.

LOTS has changed... hordes.. religion etc etc...
And Javlar.... install your normal Rome Total War... then copy the folder.. so you have 2 rome folders.. install the ex pack on one.. then realism on the other thats what i did |
Cheers
RTR rocks but i've won five full campaigns in it so it will be fun to try something else for a while. Even if im sure BI wont last as long as RTR does.

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez, this addon SUX HUGE donkey balls.
I'm a RTW pro gamer (under realismmod) and THIS is crap.
Nothing resists to a charge of even the shittiest horsemen.
This is rubbish. Not even worth a look...

Rome Total Realism is JUST a name.
The title exhumes authority but the actual mod is literally full of bugs and shortcomings that don't make it fun OR realistic.
I'm about to give this addon a go.
What I'm assured of is that it adds new features that will be most welcome, and modders will eventually find ways of balancing the game to a more realistic level we all find satisfactory.

Yeah that is pretty lame saying that BI sucks compares to RTR. They are not meant to compete. BI is meant to satisfy a large audience of gamers. RTR is meant to tweak some gameplay mechanics and change some graphics in order to make a small community happy who want realism. Yes it is hard going back to vanilla RTW gameplay, but it's just dumb not to be happy about all the things they added to make RTW a better game. I am just looking foward to what the RTR and all the other kickass modding teams will be able to do with the goodness they packed inside BI.
And has anyone else noticed at least the better battle AI? I was playing a custom battle, used my normal formation of just lines of archers, followed by inf, followed by calvary, with some calvary skirmishers on my flanks, not really expecting them to go around. But in the middle of battle, the enemy general and a unit of calvary and some skirmishers starts taking off to the west- I am like wtf? are they withdrawing or something? But no, they turn around and start marching towards the rear of my battle line, flanking my ass!
I won the battle of course, but the enemy general got 700 of my men dead compared to like 1400 of theirs...alot better than 10 to 2000 heh..

Nothing resist to a charge of horsemen?
So pikemen, spearmen, phalanx, other cavalry, etc. all go down against it?
Such a stupid comment.
"I'm a RTW pro gamer"
Yeah, like as if not anyone could write that shit.
Yes, yes I'm back.

BTW, it's not true - I tested it out with the HUN. Basic infantry (peasant and spearmen) were able to repel the attacks of basic horsemen on hard difficulty (I used no strategy just charged them lke). So I'm not sure where his comments came from, and besides, it's always been the case that horses steamroll the majority of infantry - and mods change this easily (should you want).

im playing as saxons, and there is no problem at all to repel an attack from cavalery... sure some casualties. but with some strategi they go down fast. lock the horsies up with a inf unit, take another inf unit and charge from behind. if you dont have enough units for that you just lock them up with 1 unit and hope they can hold them until you get a free unit. that usaly works. also as evryone knows spearmen can win solo vs a cavalery unit. btw BI seems to kick ass, not sure yet since i've only played about 2-3 hours... but so far it rocks.

Peasents are good if when u first start out as expendable units that can hold back the calvary for a few seconds and let ur archers with the flaming arrows take em out, then rush in with ur calvary or swords man...of course spearman are the best for holding back calvary, but the swordsman is also effective at this - but they are really weak to flaming arrows.

Peasant AND Spearmen in the same army (I'm not saying it's right. I'm saying what happened). Anyway you are exaggurating clearly and in such a way that is not worth my energy to debate with.
