Don´t know if posted, Impressions of various developers hands-on the controller

All impressed, all trying to find words to describe it in a positive way.

It's been posted. Here is a summary list of impressions:

The most "negative" of them was by SMB's creator who said it performs about the same as the 360 gamepad on SMB and Spelunky, but he "would choose a 360 controller because I have several thousand hours experience using it".

That's a very positive remark since he admits he is SUPER picky, eg refusing to play with PS3's original controller because it was "too light", but he found playing SMB on an advanced level with the Steamroller not a problem. "If tomorrow all game controllers were wiped off the earth and the only option was the Steam Controller, I don’t think this would be a bad thing. In fact, I don’t think gaming would miss a beat."

He can be as super picky as he wants, what he likes is still his opinion, and may differ greatly from any of us. I'm not adding drama to this discussion, i look forward to this controller Razz

Of course. But we don't have hands on impressions. They have. Their opinion currently means a lot more than our hypothesizing of how it could or couldn't work.

I look forward to try it but I'm still skeptical.

Though, it does not matter much at the moment, since at best it will be here, in our country, by autumn of next year (and that is VERY optimistic guess).

But vita back is a touch screen. Having buttons on back which do not react when fingers are only resting on it might be a good idea

I hope these words actually mean what they mean instead of 'sorry, but proper mouse sensitivity setting and key bindings were delayed for this game until next patch'.

What I find more intriguing, is that after almost a day of debates on the merits and drawbacks of the controller, people only now have actually discovered the official FAQ on the thing Very Happy

I think this controller sounds bloody awesome tbh! I am excited now to see the direction this will take PC gaming. It seems to me that Valve are very serious about all of this and who knows, maybe the Steam box WILL actually be a rival to the next gen consoles, well once it (hopefully) gets more support from developers.

Yeah, I'm actually very interested in how this thing will be priced. I'm getting one regardless, but I'd be bummed if it was over $70.

I think Valve will absorb the manufacturing cost of it quite a bit. They have a massive income, must have massive cash reserves, and will know that price will be the limiting factor to consumer take-up. I'd be willing to bet good money it's not going to be over $60.

They make bank just on TF2 and DOTA2 items alone on to of the cut they get for steam sales.

In reality, you can thank Neon for that lol, he probably bought and paid for Gabes car with how many games he's gotten on steam Laughing
