wtf, thats a flaccid cock length of empty screen space!
in psx and ps2 times, black borders were usually added in-game during a cutscene for cinematic effect, also that way the player would know when to put the controller down;
but why still do it today?
I was at this Eurogamer developer session today! Good job Mr Cage!
The game looks awesome and I have just pre-ordered it! And it was available to play on the show floor. I think it was the demo people are getting on PSN?
Spoiler:
How much is in the demo? The section I got to play consisted of several scenes starting off with Jodie as an 8 year old, discovering 'Aiden' gamplay, a combat sequence, a scene on a train which includes a motorbike chase from the Police and ends up in a showdown with the SWAT team.

you are trying to push visuals from 2013 on hardware from 2003 , the only way you can do this is by lowering LOD by adding fake blur mimicking human Field of View [of someone that has shortsightedness ] , lowering internal resolution , not using V-synch and not using AA , you can even fake 60fps by adding motion blur
Dragons Dogma ... black bars
Condemned ... black bars
and now Beyond ... even BIGGER BLACK BARS
Nope, Dragon's Dogma still owns the "Black Bars Derp" crown, especially if you play on a non-16:9 resolution, such as 1680x1050 on the 360. The black bars make up 30%+ of the screen

if u think about it, all of these could've been solved by making it pc exclusive, then again console herpas would go whaa whaaa

huh? they take like 2 cm of the whole screen [1cm top + 1 cm bottom ] ... oh right my 42" is 16:9 1080p native
hmmm
so how does Beyond look on a 4:3 or 16:10 TV ? black bars will take 50 % of the whole screen

Here are the borders in DD when you're playing at 4:3/5:4 or 16:10;
Mmmmm, omnom blackness! I used to play it on my 360 via my old 1680 PC monitor and the borders were horrifying, worst I've ever seen in any game. That, coupled with the horrible framerate, put me off playing and I quit after around 10 hours or so. Never went back Bring it to PC, Capcom ffs!
Fucking finally completed the demo. Connected the HDMI cable straight to my Dell monitor and it worked perfectly. So looks like some handshake issue with the HDMI connection being router to my LED TV via the HDMI splitter.
Absolutely loved the demo and I played through it twice to get 2 very different outcomes. The surprising aspect is that there is no checkpoint system. If you fail the QTE's, the game continues and we have to bear the consequences. I managed to screw up almost every slow-mo QTEs during the 'Hunted' chapter on my first play-through and
Spoiler:
Jodie got caught each time. Second time, it was different in the woods chase and the bike chase. I can't believe I missed an entire segment (the battle near the gas station) due to a single slip-up with the QTE
Can't wait for the full game, doesn't matter if I have to play on the puny 24 inch monitor.
On a side note, I hope they get rid of those ghastly black bars, which occupy an abnormally large amount of screen space. This is eve worse than Dragon's Dogma.
I wonder if a bit of transplanting will be able to fix that.. because honestly, this thing smacks of epic douchebaggery Where did you hear this, incidentally?
sad that i'll have to wait when it finally gets released :/ but i suspect many people want to play it uncensored so if it's possible i bet it'll happen pretty fast.
