At least it's not "we burned through the money, have to strip game fragments and shoot half our team" but "So yeah, it's not a village, it's a big-ass city now, we need more time" |
I wasn't poking fun or insulting Larian, just stating that this is pretty much has happened to every major KS so far. It seems their initial estimations for release date are always far too optimistic so it's probably better to vastly alter the "expected" release date on the KS pitch, add another six months on at least because if you beat it then that's great! However, one thing I do find both strange and hilarious is just how willing people are to forgive KS developers for delaying several months, whereas if it was Eidos, Activision, EA, etc, everyone would be up in arms and raging epically. Announce a WEEK delay on a PC game and people scream blue murder

Nah, not Larian, they won't. At worst they will pull some profit form Dragon Commander to finish it. I've been following company's internal life for a while, I know they will be sleeping in their office just do to it, haha. I knew that there will be delay for DOS from very beginning, it is obvious, but I at the same time know they will deliver the game in Feb/March for sure.

NPC schedules are worth the money / additional wait. If they do them right.

I take it I'm not the only one that's absolutely fascinated about how things are going at Larian? I love reading about all the things Swen posts about, hehe.

I think I'm actually a bit more excited for this than Project Eternity now. Maybe because I know it's coming sooner

They're Flemish Belgians. We'd work ourselves to death before we admit defeat. Trust me, compared to Americans, we can do 5 times as much with the same budget because we don't sit around slurping coffee.

Will probably buy this day one from the looks of it. It looks really good and the progress is showing, I really hope they can deliver, we all know good games have been missing lately..

Btw, for those who didn't watch update video in post #2325366: in December along with Alpha, they will ship fully functional Editor. The same editor they use to make the game. So technically, you can start to remake sacred or Divine Divinity on it. Or make an addon. Or full-fledged campaign.
