The host.

The Korean one, not the gay ass American teen vampire monster chick flick whatever the fuck it is, one.

I don't know what to make of it. I just couldn't figure it out... Was a bit frustrating to watch... It's like part adventure, part drama, part semi-horror, part comedy.... And most of the time I don't know what the fuck I was supposed to be feeling... I felt angry at the main retard, i laughed at the absurdity of the families mourning (PLEASE tell me I was supposed to laugh during the mourning scene!) I felt frustrated by his stupidity, I felt disgusted at the retardation of his siblings and father (seriously, the whole family most definitely had mental impairments, not just the main dude - I'm not joking), and then I felt sympathy for the main dude, then anger at how he was being treated, and then frustration at how the families attempts were being thwarted, and I even felt sad for the monster, given he was just an innocent product of human stupidity and selfishness...

All in all, a... Yeah.. I found it a difficult film to watch because of that... Here I was just hoping for a laid back fun monster adventure Sad tonally, it was anything but.

Also not sure how I felt about the ending... Again, the tone was kinda weird, both dramatic, sad, and humorous, and I was simultaneously feeling unfulfilled, upbeat, depressed and satisfied (yes, I aware of the contradictions)

Complexity confuses and ANGERS mighty chiv!

I'll give it a 6.5

After Earth - 4/10 - I like Will Smith, I enjoy most of his movies, but this was just bad. Background is told in two minutes by a voice-over, CGI is good enough and the plot is basically "shitty father/son drama on jungle planet". The kid was annoying, his face and voice pissed me off during the entire movie for some reason. Bad movie.

The Heat - 7.5/10

I enjoyed it even if the humour was a little bit low and full of swearing. -0.5 for shitty stock after effects explosion.

Stargate 7/10 i guess I enjoyed it, was the first time I saw it, because someone mentioned it in this thread. I guess it was a bit overdue, since it is 20 years old. I felt it didnt age well, i probably wouldve liked it better when it came out (when I was 14). Really strange to see that 3rd rock from the sun actor as a soldier Smile

Pacific Rim 7.5/10 actually I loved it more than that, and I really cannot figure out why. i hated transformers, couldnt even finish it, but this felt like a mix between a homage to a lot of movies (top gun, starship troopers, and 90s movies in general if you look at the whole build-up) and video games (OMF2097, and that other super awesome 90's videogame with robots, cant remember, yes, Shogo!). Now I know why I love it Smile If I had to point something out, I'd say the music was mediocre. Standard stuff, nothing special. Fights were badass, CGI was top notch, camerawork too. I'm revising my score: 8/10.

like the animes that inspired him had any good dialogue and tired cliches... Laughing

the movie is a live action mecha anime. if you were expecting something else... then you have made a big mistake waiting for this. Laughing

I had issues with how it forced it self to let people know that it's not a serious movie but a homage to the shitty animes people love so much. The story and the world were so nice, if it had been a serious movie it would've been as bad as that 1998 godzilla movie.

Pacific Rim - 5.5/10

"In order to fight monsters.."

..............we gave ILM a truckload of money to create them digitally.

aka "ILM 2013 VFX Reel: The Movie"

Let's see what we have here:

Visuals (CGI + style): 10/10
Everything else: 1/10
-------------------------------------
Average: 5.5/10

Transformers 1 & 3 had characters with more emotion, occasionally better dialog and why not, the occasional funny line that was indeed funny. And that's saying something.

Facepalm @ the waste of mind blowing CGI in this. Embarassed

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Agreed. Recreating crappy styles like Japanese robot fighting is a shitty idea. I complained about the very same thing with Death proof, but apparently we have to praise them because they perfectly recreate trashy B movies.

If you perfectly mimic crap, it's still crap.

Now, this I can accept as a fair review, in comparison. You don't like the source the movie was doing homage to, so it makes sense you won't like the film itself, fair enough Very Happy

And yeah, Death Proof was pretty good though not one of Tarantino's best.

You can argue perhaps dialogs/characters/etc in PR were the same as TF1&3 instead of worse, but don't you dare say they were even a 1% better.
