I really don't wan't kids. I have a girlfriend who also doesn't want any. She's on the pill, but taking a pill everyday is not that easy, she may forget one or two and shit happens. She also has migraines, to which the pill might contribute, so it's not ideal. Condoms are not the best contraceptive either, the failure rate is around 5%, it really is better to keep condoms for situations where STDs are to be avoided, not pregnancy.
I'm almost 30. Had enough time to think about this, and I'm quite mature. If I ever meet a woman who really wants kids, she will have to accept my wish of not having them, or find another man. Vasectomy or not. The reason why I really want it done is to be sure an accident won't ever happen. Most women are not willing to abort (and it is illegal in some places, like here...), and I'm not willing to be a father.

Also, I can have 50 kids and avoid supporting them, but I can't make a final decision about having none? It's my body, I should be the one making the call, not some pathetic doctor.
Why is it so wrong not to have kids?

Turns out I was wrong, condoms don't have a 5% failure rate. In typical use it's 10 to 18% pregnancy rate... This is really not good enough if you don't want a pregnancy.
So basically if I can't have a vasectomy, I can't have sex without risking an unwanted child.
But anyway, the point of this topic wasn't so much to discuss my reasons on why I want it, but to voice my anger for not being able to do what I want with my own body. I highly suspect the cause for this is religion, I can't see why they would deny such procedure if it wasn't for that... Like zipfero said, catholic country...

^If you're talking about the IUD, that shit is 100% NOT something you want to mess with. My aunt had the copper IUD for years, caused constant cramping and she eventually had one of my cousins while on it. They had to remove the IUD while she was pregnant, but thankfully there were no complications.
Another girl I know has the Mirena IUD, and it fell out 3 times, including once a few days right after we had sex. Trust me that's not a situation you want to be in Aside from the terrible success rate the side effects that she had were: oily skin, rashes, bloated stomach, irregular periods, weight gains, and all other sort of stuff that I now forget.
Trust me, I don't like the pill much either. It makes chicks have crazy mood swings and gain weight, and some of them will simply forget one day, or will forget on purpose sometimes when they are going through an especially hard mood swing because they fantasize about having children Oh and around 20% of the college age women here have an STD (can't speak for the rest of the world) so going in raw is like playing Russian Roulette.
tl;dr I use condoms now. EVERY DAMN TIME.

Well, book a trip to Canada or UK, they should have the best health care, or so I've heard.
And I fully understand the need not to have kids.
I mean, even tho I'm gay, and the only way I could have kids is either by surrogacy or adopting, I really don't want kids. I don't think I'd be a good father. I lack the patience.
I don't have anything against babies, I just don't want them.
And I fully respect anyone who doesn't want to have kids.

They are pretty fail safe. |
If she needs to take an antibiotic for any reason, the pills are less effective. If she has to take antidepressants, the pills are less effective. If she happens to have stomach/intestinal problems in any given night, the pill might not work. In typical use, oral contraceptives have 8% of pregnancy rate... that's not safe enough.
Sure, I'll have to take the risk... but it ain't right. |
Dude... If she takes any of those don't have sex the day she takes them.
My fiancee adapted perfectly:
1. Read EVERY, EVERY note that is included in EVERY medicine she takes to check if it makes the pill less effective.
2. If she has to take antidepressants, just choose ones that don't conflict with the pill
3. If she has stomach problems, just take another pill (it's even written on the paper included in each box)
4. ???
5. Profit by having no babbys!

How about:
Hit a women over the head with the club
Drag her into the bushes
Fornicate
Plant a tree
Piss on the tree to mark your territory
Shit on the tree
Live in a cave (your busy shittin' and pissin', no need to build a house)
That's a man son

Nothing. It's just in our genetic make-up to procreate, something we seem to slooooooowly move past with will.
