ok fixed it by using -windowed. The stupid game uses a wrong resolution and that's why it couldn't show it.

What's up with that anyway. Hardly any game launches in the right resolution. I mean fucking ass, it's 2013 ... how comes, that they still didn't figured out a "use desktop resolution" in their games ? It's fucking pathetic.

Nearly all games seem to launch in 1920x1080 for me just fine these days Surprised

Only thing that might need changing is refresh rate from 60 to 120 manually.

stuff like this really takes me out of the game

The guy that is circled was there the turn before. He actually ended up blown up in the car, but I tried to shoot him with the girl there. Now, it showed no target. Despite the fact that when you go into 3rd person view for the shot on the guy that is there now, she can see right out the door right where the body is laying. Instead she has a shot at a guy that is clearly through a wall.
idiocy.

They want 27 € for some new maps and a couple new classes?

Would you recommend I wait for this expansion before playing the game for the first time?

Something tells me Firaxis is pulling a Civ 5 here again where the game finally became awesome and complete with the late expansions Razz

4treyu,

Might be a good idea as they are implementing some fixes for the current game. It also doesn't sound like they are removing anything so maybe it is worth it to buy all at once. The only thing you are missing out on now (besides the gameplay) are the mods and some are really good but Firaxis is promising easier mod support with this addon.

@briangw thanks for the insight Smile

I already own the main game though, no DLCs. I was planning to play it very soon but I might just wait for the expansion to reach a good price point during the steam sales or something.

Thanks for the suggestion but no, I don't believe in "try first" unless it's about making a hard decision of buying or not buying a game. I'll just play the full thing when the time is right Smile

Was always awesome, from the beginning, folks just didn't understand it Wink It encroached on their little Civ IV modding world, simple Smile

Never got into this incarnation of XCOM, it is bugged, never been properly fixed, is unplayable at higher levels, and it's rapid price drop after release never got me to actually buy it Smile Sales have happened here and there with this game, but never cheap enough for me to part with my cash. $2 and I'll snap it up, yup, why not? I'm pretty disappointed that support was very thin for this title, compared to Civ V.

Holy fuckturds... This expansion is 45 usd? Wow.. for a moment there I thought they actually wanted to sell it... you know... Have people pay to own it. Apparently I was clearly wrong.

Urge to own fading.... fading.... fading... RISING..... fading.... gone.

And I thought Bethesda were acting like unreasonable douchebags with their skyrim dlc pricing... they're charitable saints compared to these guys!

It's 26 USD from what I can tell.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/225340/?cc=us

And 26 (Well OK, 27, I hate that .99 thing.) Euro over here.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/225340/?cc=se

In the UK it's ~17 GBP.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/225340/?cc=uk

However in and around Australia it's 45 USD for whatever reason now that I check, is that were you are?
http://store.steampowered.com/app/225340/?cc=au
(Because you know, shipping a digital download product is expensive..., well I don't know why you pay that much in comparison.)

Yup, I'm in nz...

So.... Shafted again I guess... So Much Win

Good thing I still kinda sorta remember how to pirate. Bullshit pricing is bullshit.

...hell even the 'fair' us pricing is still too much for some maps and a new class Sad

I loved xcom eu, and I'll definitely pick up ew when it gets the same kinda price cuts as eu got... But buying now? Hell no Sad

27€ for an expansion that gives you new abilities and enemies?! They must be joking.
I must be spoiled by Borderlands's DLC were for 10€ I got around 8-10 hours of gameplay with new assets.

Going on the description this should be 10 euro at most. Then again I found all the Skyrim DLC also way too expensive, picked those up halfprice. This price would only be justifiable if it included the whole game, which of course it doesn't (would also feel screwed ofcourse because I'm not paying twice). Waiting for the bargain bin I guess... At least nothing is in my way now to pick up the game again for a playthrough.

Well I can't speak for the expansion but the base game is incredible, far better than I was expecting. If the expansion - which is ludicrously overprice to say the least - improves on that then it's all the better... but you don't have to feel put out if you just play the base game.

I enjoyed the game much more than I was expecting. But I´ll skip this DLC, they already said it´s the same story arc = same game, plus the power soldiers and a couple more maps, which, judging from that video, at list one is another corridor. pass

DLC is shit, they should have used the dlc to bring new and more diverse maps for the entire game and more random missions like I dunno, the ufc crashed on an oil rig, or there are alines on the bottom of the ocean go and kill them, or you're in a desert and there is a sand storm and you can't see shit.

I never got around to playing this. Were there a lot of updates / bugfixes? I see an update 4 but it looks like I need 1-3 as well if I grab that.

Or was it pretty stable out the door. I grabbed the game, just never played it.
