Yeah... maybe.

I'll try to borrow someone's account when the game is released and after a couple of patches but I'm seriously doubting it will ever run half as good as BF3 did Sad

Okay, I've played around with VSync and it turns out it's not at all what I thought. Looks like having VSync enabled (in-game or forced) quite simply reduces performance for me.

It seems to tie up the CPU somehow and cause performance drops again. I had some obvious changes in the graph, from nice and stable lines with VSync off to all spiky, jaggedy-like with higher ms values, similar to what I had shown before the patch, when it's on.
I had RP disabled, so didn't make screenshots, but it was quite obvious and framerate gains varied 7-17 FPS (from 46 to 62 at times).

I guess VSync stays off after all Smile

Well, performance is not ideal here. FPS average is still low for my taste in a first-person shooter, but I can play a full match now, kill enemies, etc. Hopefully DICE will keep improving on it Razz

Y U No???? adaptive 60 fps (or not on nvidia). Works on every game and no need to suffer from 30fps.

Adaptive VSync works similar on AMD hardware although it's not exposed in the CCC panels, you can enable it and other variants via RadeonPro for example. Smile
(I'm using it, or one method of it.)

There's a lot of stuff that really should have been part of the driver control panel options but AMD is being pretty cautious about what to implement since incorrect settings can impact stability or framerate severely. Smile
(But that's why there's a basic and advanced view for the CCC, even something as basic as triple buffering for D3D should have been available but needs third party utilities.)

Its playable for me (on most of the servers) . Around 30fps with everything on high + 2xMSAA @ 1080p

my sys: q6600 @ 3ghz
4 gig ram ddr2-1000
gtx580

I think my cpu is limiting most of the time. the load is between 90 and 99% on all cores while playing. the gtx stays at around 65-70%.
Performance remains the same regardless of the settings i choose.

You were getting 30fps on High with a 580, I was getting 38fps on High with a pair of 570s. I'd definitely say something was wrong with the game, not our systems. My top card topped out at 55c and the bottom one was 38c, which means neither was being used even remotely close to how they should be. Shadow Warrior, for instance, was damned near 90% on both cards, topping at 75c/65c. I didn't check CPU usage in BF4 though :\

Yeah, there's still bottleneck on CPU's without Hyperthreading. Like I mentioned before, that particular issue hasn't been addressed by the patches yet. They had to fix the stuttering issue which was related to graphics drivers.

AMD has adaptive as well.

Indeed, I can toggle DVC with a push of a button, but this won't be of much use, since simply having VSync enabled already reduces performance for me - it's not about dropping below 60 and getting locked to 45. It just runs worse with it on apparently.

I'll test it anyway at some point, too busy sinking and crashing choppers right now Very Happy

with the new patch game runs much better on win7 but still not ideal. i have to lower a few settings from ultra to high, because on ultra there's still crazy amount of stuttering for some reason.
it's really annoying having to lower settings because on ultra i get good framerate, but experience is completely ruined by stuttering Sad
