505 Games has today announced How to Survive, a new intellectual property (IP) coming to the Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360, PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3 and Windows PC via Steam by Valve Corporation. How to Survive is being developed by EKO Studios and is due for release this autumn.

Featuring a robust crafting system, unique survival guide and a host of playable characters, How to Survive strands players on a remote archipelago off the coast of Colombia in the aftermath of an unexplained accident… but you’re not alone. In Electronic Theatre Imageorder to survive, you must fulfil the most basic of needs – seeking out food, water and shelter, as well as crafting dozens of tools and weapons from fishing rods to Molotov cocktails. Players can also team up with other survivors in local and online multiplayer story and challenge modes to take on a growing array of the infected.

There is currently alot of debate about that because it's not quite clear. Steam page says, for example, offline story-mode and 8 challenges for online play.

Then again, the guy in the video says online and offline. But he's not really specific.

http://steamcommunity.com/app/250400/discussions/0/810938082274739357/

From Store page:
Quote:
• Play with a friend offline through the story mode or go online and play with a friend through 8 demanding challenges.

In the video posted above and in the dev commentary video he says "online co-op."

But very specifically in the dev commentary video they say you can play one or two player in story mode or challenge mode, both online and offline.

How much clearer do you need them to be?

How about crystal? And how the fuck is it "clear" if the store page and the video are contradicting each other? Gimme a break. I'm not shelving out money based on "your" "assumption". Rolling Eyes

Is it too hard for you to NOT be a dick, dude?

Nowhere did *I* make an assumption. If, a few weeks ago, one of the lead devs says on a video that there is one and two player, online and offline, in both story and challenge modes, that's pretty clear to me. I couldn't care less what it says on the steam page (as if that's always right) or even their own home page (a LOT of them don't maintain the content on their own pages. who knows how old that info is).

You should relax. It's a fucking $10 game and you're all worked up over it? Rolling Eyes Nobody is forcing you to buy it. Pirate it. If you don't like it, delete it. Or just get worked up over it like a 12 year old crying over GTA5 or something. Either way, welcome back to my ignore list.

First of all, I apologize. Matter of fact, for some reason, I had the impression that your post was kinda dick'ish, so I responded in the same matter. Just to make that clear.

And yes, it's kinda hard to not be a dick if some tries to state assumptions as facts. Especially if the person is in no position to state these "facts" because he just can't know unless the person is directly involved with the matter or can deliver 100% accurate proof.

Just saying. Shame you'll never read this though Very Happy

so it says "challenge mode" in the menu shown in the 50 minute GameSpot commentary. Does anyone know if this means "sandbox?" It would be nice if that were possible. Smile

It's good that the game pauses, when you are in menus like your inventory. Not like in some other games.
But the menu for like crafting is toooo big Surprised Also there seem to be infinite spawn points ? Sad At the beginning in that house, where zombies kept coming from that hidden room

Let me try this again. In the 50 minute Gamespot video, the GS guy playing it chose the "Story" game from the menu. Underneath that was a mode called "Challenge Mode." My question was along the lines of is this Challenge mode an open mode where countless numbers of zombies come at you until you die (like in a sandbox) or is it just doing stuff for the most amount of points? I can't find that info anywhere.
