I have SR2 Reboot from GetGames and I can't run it on Win 8.1. I hope that us NA peeps get some sort of discount since we don't have any of the Space Rangers titles on Steam.

According to their site, it goes live at 12 PDT .. now whether that's 1200, 12AM or 12PM, is unknown Laughing I guess we'll find out in about 3 hours.

It's out on Gamersgate since earlier today but that version requires Steam and it likely won't be released on Steam until their usual time which is 19.01 here, in about one and a half hour. Smile

Someone on Bluesnews said they bought it from GreenManGaming and the key activated fine on Steam, despite no Steam page for it.

$25 bucks and no word of a discount if you own 1 and/or 2? No thanks.

According to the Russian store page, there's a 40% discount if you own SR2 on Steam, but yeah.. $25? That means €25 (it's $15/€15 in RU money) and even a 40% discount means they want €15 from existing customers? Fuck. No.

15.99€ for me but I'm in Europe region 2.

EDIT:
Good news: it's 19.99 Reals in Brazil which is a bit less than 10 US dollars, so mght be doable for 5 TF2/treasure keys from a Brazilian.

Also the Russian version which only had Russian language was replaced with the new one in the store. It costs 319 rubles, however. Not sure we'd get it for 5 keys from them.

-20% off during sale, down from €20 to €15 and NO discount for existing owners.

~edit~

They've even changed the RU page now as well, removing mention of discount for owners of SR2 Facepalm I should have taken a damned screenshot >_<

If you manage to get it from someone from Brazil for TF2 keys it'll be significantly cheaper.

Nah, I'll wait for RELOADED or 3DM. I already own three copies of SR1 and SR2 (Impulse, Retail and Steam) I'm not buying this one all over again - it was an interesting choice when it was €6 as a loyalty thing, but now it seems they've removed even that option.

Fuck 'em.

just to warn you, game is full of anti-piracy triggers and i doubt someone will bother with proper crack to find them all.
for example: skip to one min
bajillion asteroids for you destroying everything in all systems. or sun with the range over 9000 burning down all the ships

I'm honestly not surprised, they rammed StarForce down everyone's throats back when it first came out.

Hmm, so I dunno, is this worth buying since a proper crack is unlikely? I've never played any space rangers game, but generally I'm a fan of turn-based games with advancements/upgrades and all kinds of RPGs (for instance I loved FTL and kings bounty).

i would pay about 5$ for it. (i played sr a lot, so is not high on my priority list).
but is a good game if you like the genre, and probably worth 9$.
the only thing i dint like was the prison "event".

Ok I just bought it... Katauri were responsible for kings bounty, which I simply adored. Cost me 16euro, on one hand I simply hate paying for games, but on the other it's less than I pay to order lunch, so no biggie I guess Smile

I like it so far, framerate could be better but I need to adjust the settings or some such.

Still as fun as when I played the original. Smile

what. the. fuck. ? The game is nearly a DECADE old! There shouldn't BE any issues with framerate, at all, period, especially not on uber-rigs like yours Neutral

I still haven't figured out the cause but the space and town views run at full 60 FPS whereas the conversation and main menu run at a bit over 30 FPS.
(There's a lot of setting to go through and there's even more in the txt file that the game reads them from, stuff for FSAA and AF for example, multithreaded rendering too but I believe that's for Crossfire and SLI usage.)

if you get shit framerates:
1)disable cpu multithreading in options, it only hurts tbh
2)disable 2d rendering in options, that hurts too

game runs pretty well anyway, those minor issues dont spoil it. i didnt have much trouble in 150 hours i've played (i am from Russia, we got the game back in may or smth).
its still one of the best games ever made.

triggers include but not limited to:
-insane amount of asteroirds
-insane power of the sun
-skills randomly de-level
-prices on planets go nuts
-hull of ship gets randomly damaged
-fuel starts leaking out

thats all i can remember for now, but i am sure there are more.

its stupid to assume that reloaded knows about triggers. game runs - they dont care about the rest. plus you cant spot triggers if you havent played the game long enough to realize that something is wrong.

for all the ppl waiting - just buy the game if you really want it. proper crack is unlikely to happen.

Rean is starting to sound rather suspicious right now Laughing Tell your publisher that no, I will not buy their overpriced game when they don't even have the common decency to include a discount to people that own the base games originally Razz
