ppl were mad in russia too. we got the game for initial price of 15$ on steam, considering its 3rd or 4th edition, ppl werent that happy. however local store price was about 7-8$, so it was kinda reasonable. at least for me anyway. 8$ is nothing.
i agree that 15 pounds or whatever it is in europe is a ripoff, but what can you do really.

As I said earlier in the thread, I'd be willing to pay for an "upgrade" at the €6 RU price it was on the store for previous owners.. but then they went and changed it with a flippant "No, it's gone, weekend sale price only" - well fuck that Neutral

triggers include but not limited to:

-hull of ship gets randomly damaged
-fuel starts leaking out

thats all i can remember for now, but i am sure there are more.

Who was cracking RU release anyway?
If all those triggers have been noticed in the wild (otherwise no one would known about their existence), it must be some lame group.

some amateurs ofc, few attempts failed and they just stopped trying. the fact that patches were released weekly with important fixes didnt help either, some ppl wanted to wait until everything is done before trying to crack properly, but never came back to finish it.

Just a thought... perhaps those triggers only applied to the RU copy? Maybe the RU one used more than just Steam as protection? Like you said; it was released on retail as well. RLD are no strangers to putting out trigger-infested games (hey~ho drunk cam!) but still, might be worth checking out no?

retail copies are still attached to steam. steam version is the only one available, even in Russia. so all the triggers are still there. and since nobody gives a damn about the game, nobody will even bother to find them all. its not fifa or gta after all.

I'm just saying, it's not the first time a game in RU has used crazy protection compared to the rest of the world.. you DID give us Starforce after all, thank you SO very much for that Razz

There's a recent (28/09) RUS repack by someone called xatab who, apparently, managed to remove those triggers (at least some users reported that version was working fine).

I was thinking it may be possible to use the exe in the RLD release.

I tried it quickly earlier, seems to be problematic - I didn't encounter any of the listed triggers but the tutorial doesn't work properly, you can't (couldn't, depends on player I guess) destroy the dummy asteroid in order to get the minerals. It takes damage but flies away and docks in a space station Laughing Also, couldn't engage in combat with other ships.

asteroid thingy is an intentional script and a part of actual game, read the messages at the bottom of the screen. it happens with low chance when you start the game.
being unable to fight other ships sounds like a trigger though

I read the messages and didn't see anything about an invincible tutorial asteroid that prevents you from getting the minerals you need to complete the tutorial Razz

You probably know this already but there's that optional tutorial at the games start, takes you through trading, combat and other stuff.

Part of the initial combat goal is to destroy a stationary dummy asteroid and take it's resources, unlike other asteroids this one is clearly named and described as a tutorial dummy target asteroid and as far as I know it won't move. Smile
(Should only take a few shots even with a lower-end starting ship.)

(It's unlikely that the player will mistake a real game asteroid as those are often further out and much faster, but I did, turns out I forgot to press OK during the talk screen to get the actual mission going. Razz )

they added a random event as a scripted scene, where asteroid starts to move and lands on a planet. call it easter egg or whatever

There are definitively triggers in the Reloaded release.
I at least experienced the "ship takes random damage", got destroyed couple of times thanks to it.

this is almost ridiculous lol. i didnt think they would go that far to prevent any kind of piracy. its an overkill for a game nobody knows about
