Compiled over a month ago . So by the looks of it , Not final , So Rosters may be incomplete and Some Changes Missing ( Celtic Kit maybe )

"Unsigned" means it could be beta like one of the versions of Pro Evo 4 that came out early on Xbox last year thats why its nuked. Remember last years beta the one where you couldn't aim penalties?

Plus some peoples chipped xboxs have problems running games that are unsigned, or so I see from alot of threads on the net. Smile

I've seen stuff nuked as unsigned before that has later been confirmed as retail though so who knows. Wink

Played it a little and it seems ok. The rosters are correct for some teams and made up for other. The national teams all seem right as well as the italian ones. England has a bunch of made up teams except for arsenal.

Never tried this series before and i am pretty much a FIFA-fanboy but the 06-edition is just such crap. Here is a little mini-review if you will.

Compared to FIFA the gameplay is much better especially defense and how the AI (both the opponent and your own players) behave. Graphicswise this is a few years behind FIFA and most of the players look kinda weird. The menues and GUI in PES5 really annoy me, they are hard to navigate through and badly named. FIFAs BIG advantage is of course the rosters. I get the feeling of old FIFA95 when i play PES because of the made up names. Im sorry but i dont think i will be playing this, even though FIFA lacks the gameplay it makes up for it with complete rosters, graphics and the 15-year manager-carreer.

I honestly Can't see why people think fifa is better looking , The only Thing i think looks better is the Model itself . Textures in fifa are well below par of pes ,

The Pitches / Stadiums can't hold a candle to pes

The Strips look like there melting in fifa , Look at the Juve Strip in fifa and then pes , I can tell which one i prefer . And with the ingame kit editor probably is the best it will be , I can't see any complaints about other kits .

The HAIR , Well just look and see , Every player apparently Uses a few Candles to set it in place

The animations compared to pes are lack luster, The Run like gimps and the turns look rediculous

Only Thing fifa has over it as you say is the gui, But its an ea game , thats the only thing they change Every year....

Complete rosters , you will See that all players are Generally in there correct place , Dutch Players are probably Mispelt but other than that . Only thing Missing are kits , And EA monopolising everything is to blame yet again

Fifa's Rosters arn't Up to date either though , I noticed Jenas and owen where not at there new clubs . Probably more

PES is better than FIFA.. It has been that way since PES3 and it will remain like that. What about PES not having real names? Like the devs of PES can make an offer higher then EA to get the rights for the name. Rolling Eyes
Mostly they have made only slight changes so with a little brains you can mostly figure out who is who anyways.

FIFA always have some weird things going on, wasn't it FIFA 2005 that had First Touch or whatever it was named. Such things are BS and should not be allowed in sports games.

PES for teh win!

Just played a quick 3 games of this to test it out seems pretty good as Javlar said the rosters only take into account the big teams Middlesbrough for example don't even have the correct team name I noticed Celtic though have the correct name. No longer will they be known as Old Firm Green plus they have the correct strip with the sponsor on and correct players from the looks of things.

The biggest difference I noticed in the game was the actual dribbling seems like they added a little weight to the players, they also seem to like taking an extra touch when they get the ball and they seem to have a bigger turning circle when running its hard to explain you'll see what i mean when you get it though just seems slightly harder to control the ball which I think will make for a rewarding game in the long run especially in 2 player mode.

I noticed no difference in the skill moves performed a stack of the old moves against opponents just to test the water and chipped the Celtic keeper twice once which resulted in a goal the other time it flew inches by the post, also sat down the Tunisia keeper by faking a shot then lifted it over him so the old tricks still work. Im gonna give the training a run through tomorrow afternoon to see whats new in full, headers and shooting didn't seem that different.

The tackling seems to have changed, I commented on it when I played the PC demo but it is now very easy to bump a player over or if your an attacker draw fouls something which I look forward to when playing against my Fifa buddies at this game. I played Pro Evo 4 against a Fifa mate one time and he got so many players sent off that the game was automatically conceded, I see that being the case this time as well. There are various other small changes that I picked up on, one was that the CPU doesn't always check back on himself before he crosses the ball from the wing something which they did pretty much all the time in Pro Evo 3 and 4 im sure there are alot of other changes in there.

The presentation is your bog standard Konami football sim nothing has really changed since ISS on the SNES in my opinion which doesn't bother me that much im more about the gameplay, theyve included some licensed music in the form of a Kasabian track at the start the other tracks are fairly typical of the series. In my opinion anyone that plays this game and compares its presentation to Fifa or any other EA Sports titles as a comparison seriously needs to take a look at the ESPN/2K series they pretty much set the bar in terms of presentation in sports games these days, I mean take a look at NBA2K6 compared to NBA Live 06 its like comparing a diamond to a turd.

Overall I think this is gonna take a little time to get used to just like Pro Evo 2 and Pro Evo 3 did when you first started playing them, Its certainly the game I would choose to play if it was a choice between this and Fifa 06 although it could be considered quite daunting to get into due to the changes that I mentioned above if your new to the series.....So Javlar if your reading this please persist with the game as when you pick up all the tricks/skill moves and subtleties of the game it really is a title thats in a class of its own, I've said it before and I'll say it again like chess this is a game thats easy to pick up but difficult to master and thats where part of the appeal lies. Smile

Game includes full commentary for all of the 5 multi languages btw. I tested German language briefly just to verify, the english guy has a new phrase which he seems to repeat alot so I see the commentary getting turned off very soon.

Pro Evo 5 for teh win. Laughing

Gave this a good testing lastnight into early hours of the morning... lol

this is as stated *nuked* ! game is unfinished! PES is supposed to have EPL lisence for teams and strips but this hasnt had it applied! all english teams just have their colours but no design! The rosters are out of date! when you select stadium effects and capacity for the crowd, the stadium remains empty!

apart from above! game runs sweet, no crashes, no controls missing! this will glady do untill retail release is out!

everythign you mention above will remain in the finsihed game (i knwo A LOT about this game)

there aren;t many peopel in the stadium becuse otherwise it causes slowdown, so they took them out to prevent pooor performance,

and they DONT have all EPL liscences yet, i repeat they WILLL not have all EPL liscences, the only teams fully sponsored in the EPL are chelsea and arsenal the rest in retail and in this verison are unsponsored

but if you get a maz drive from play.com and download the option file from pesfan.com that will be released on release day the will correct all names transfers and evern put full sponrsors and eVERY team just like konami did get full liscences (i do it every year, totally cancels out the appeal of fifa and its free (£10 for the max drive, but its worth it)

so again this game is the finsihed version!! (rosters are always outdated, they only got up to auhust 18th, every transfer after that has been missed out (apart form some big name ones)

i know this because two weeks ago the guy at esfan who does the option file has had both ps2 and xbox FINAL verison officially form konami, so i doubt this leak would be an earlier verison than them

There are fans believe me I played it for a few hours last night and then again today playing a quick qualifying session in the euro cup and whilst I didn't make much effort to look at the fans specifically, I noticed in a few matchs at the start the cutscene zooms in very close on the fans in much the same way as it does in NHL2K6 and guess what there are fans jumping around waving banners.

You can also see them whenever you take a goal kick or whenever the angle changes for example when you score a goal - where people are getting their info from about there being no fans and exactly what the fascination with it is I have no idea, I guess the simple solution is to just leave the release alone if the fact that its unsigned doesn't suit you.

Noticed no problems whatsoever during the last gaming session. Not a single thing that suggests it would be beta or not-done-version. Works great and the feeling is awesome!

During normal play.....There are NO FANS.

During cut scenes (like the intro) and during Corners, free kicks, and replays, dead ball situations where the view changes......

There ARE fans...

The final version of winnine eleven 9 is the same, so I dunno if the are gonna keep it the same, I am always getting conflicting info from different sources, but check it out, play a game in a stadium that has seats clos behind the goals..... go up and take a look. no fans, get the ball out for a corner.... magically fans appear... Did you notice Munkeee that when you play in the cold you can see the players breath, wasn't sure if thats a new thing or not. Very Happy Also whats with the ref? From a long ball my attacker got the ball and with my first touch I knocked it past the keeper and was clean through on goal only for the keeper to drag me down, the ref didn't even give a penalty!!!

As for the difficulty I've only lost 2 matches so far and both were in Penalty Shootouts alot of the games have been close run things and I've conceded very few goals which is about normal for me.

@ripkord - mate you should try it for yourself and then you'll see. On my previous post I played the game with the camera set to Broadcast mode specifically so that I could see the fans during normal play and there are still fans, others that have it will verify that. Razz

I must say this game is wicked I have never played it until now and I think i will not be really playing fifa anymore. but PES5 as a long ass learning curve, to much combinations to pass, shoot control. But that is the realism i like and been looking for in a futbol game. kudos to konami. EA = SAME NORTH AMERICAN CRAP ALL THE TIME. JUST LIKE THE CARS. ARGH. oh well i will have to give this game serious time.

I'm in the states, so let me clarify that before I go any further.

I've got Winning Eleven 9 and Fifa 06....Im getting PES5 now, where does this stand in terms of those games? Is it the same game as WE9?

WE9 wasn't released here or atleast I don't think it was in the states and from what I can read it's WE9 but a US/UK version.

Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Fifa 06 is good looking and thats about it, WE9 has the gameplay and everything else needed for a great game.

played it last night and it is great, im not too bothered about up to date rosters and crowds etc just the way the game plays. the game plays even better than the last one and the AI is spot on as barcelona ripped me to shreds the first time i played them (actually playing like barc in real life) even looking forward to get retail later this month Smile
