and then its sub hd but that console upscaled it to 1080p , he said its 1080p because he pressed the Info button on the TV to check the resolution
and OUCH the launch trailer is from this generation , those jaggies and awful textures are brrrrrr horrible , here a 1080p AVC1 138.53 MB source

did anyone really expect that the "nextgen" consoles would be able to render 1080p with stable 60fps in anything more than Peggles2???
I had an argument with a coworker the other day and i almost slapped him cuz he was convinced 4K gaming is possible with the PS4.

Considering they're both packing octocore procs and upgraded equivalents of 7850s... yes? Sure the processor is more of a laptop chip that runs slowly, but the GPU is still pretty good and should be more than capable of 1080p60 with high details - no less than most PCs at the moment.

Games will be 1080p bit in the end they will be 30 fps. Graphics sell. You can't see fps in the screenshots

60 fps seems to be a big deal for MP games, so that's why they want it.
Also, has it actually been confirmed yet? I didn't see any reasonably reliable info yet.
Edit: And promo screenshots were always made at higher resolutions, so those will still look fantastic. Look at this-gen console screens. They all look so great - until you see that for real, upscaled to your 1080p HDTV.

FYI, CoD has always been 60 fps, even on consoles, yet they sold with having lesser graphics than the rest

The XB1 has the equivalent of a hypothetical 7770 with 2 extra CUs and the PS4 has a hypothetical 7850 with 2 extra CUs. Even by today's standards, they're still fairly capable cards and should be pulling off 1080p60 with relative ease.

imo,they are not really equal to 7850/7700 cards as people tend to assume,the hardware might be more similar to PC,but there will still be differences in the hardware like PS4 having GDDR5.
as with original xbox,the Video Card was said to be Geforce 3,the guy who worked on Emulation on the hardware confirmed it's more of something in the middle of Geforce 3/Geforce 4.

I would be more inclined to agree with the "From specific distances you can't tell the difference anyways" argument if we were talking down-scaling to 1080p and 720p for example from a 4k source it would be hard to tell the difference on a 50" tv from 15 feet away at 720p or 1080p but when your taking a native 720p image and either up-scaling it or leaving it at 720p the difference is extremely noticeable.

the thing is, the further away you are from the screen, the more you see the difference. 720p becomes very blurry very quickly, while 1080p remains sharper for a lot longer (the further you go away). So nothing he says makes any sense what so ever.
