Just played for an hour or so and I'm happy w/ the graphics.. YES they are shoddy texture abound and the weather effect bragged about in the next gen are not implemented here but the game play and acting so far is great! AC3 was ok but I hated the lead character and the plot was meh but the pirate parts were great and the idea of running your own ship and doing privateer and assassin missions is what I was looking for.. Gonna sit and play for a few more hours and will be back w/ more insight..

Does the game has a background music when roaming , AC3 didn't have it hence it felt quite boring

Thankfully 2game.com cancelled it! Smile

I played it a little more, and HOLY FUCK, this game is MASSIVE! So many islands, so many animals to kill and stuff to unlock... The naval battles are awesome, they introduced some new mechanics like water tornadoes and throwing powder barrels off your ship and shoot them with your swivel guns...

And the gameplay really is seamless even on 360, you attack the ship, hold B to board it, all without loading.

I really, really enjoy it so far, but I'm going to stop playing and wait for the PC version. Smile

I played for a few hours as well, fully explored the opening island, and was working my way through Havana. Something seems off though... haha. The combat feels like, extra easy in this game. Obviously combat in AC games has never been very difficult, mostly just stand there and counter-attack murder. But this game.. I don't know.. I'm like a walking/running tornado of swords and nothing can even come close to stopping me. I don't remember the other AC games being this easy, even when the combat was.. well... easy.

Oh well, still ridiculous fun so far.

Oh and you really can't murder people anymore? You can't even punch them? What the hell. Laughing

sto0z, wait till you encounter guards with muskets, when there is more than 1 and they are on the towers you can die in 2 seconds if you're not careful Smile

Combat is very similar to AC3, not sure where the "it's easier" comment comes from

Me neither, haha. Just feels.. different. Like, when there's 10 guys in an area and you're trying to get in there stealthy, there's really no danger of tipping them off, they all run at you and you just do the standard counter attack and shit and then spam X and everything is dead in like 10 seconds.

It's always been that way but it just feels even easier somehow this time.

Even when there's 2-3 guards standing there, you can just climb like an inch up an object across from them and then leap off for DOUBLE ASSASSINATIOANTNATN!!!11!1!! and it so you're just walking down the street murdering the fuck out of everything and giving exactly 0 fucks as you walk straight into off limit zones and murder the entire population of guards inside while you're texting on your phone.

Just feels easier, don't know what to say. ;p

The combat itself is the same as in AC3, the difference (at least in Havana) is that there are no 'heavy' units like the big guys with axes in AC3 that you couldn't just parry+kill. Also an open fight in AC3 in town usually resulted in dozens of soldiers. In Havana they are dispersed in very small groups that you annihilate in seconds.

Anyway I'm playing only to enjoy the naval battles awesomeness later. The land quests are boring, especially that 'tail' shit Rolling Eyes

Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube

Yah I guess that's what it is, the guards don't swarm as much. But also, the AI seems worse somehow... Or just easier to exploit, I don't know. I literally pulled like 6 guys into the same exact bush as others in the area watched and lost interest, I don't remember it being so silly in the other games???

I'm not bashing it, I'm enjoying the game very much, naval combat feels great. Smile I was super hyped for this game, and it's living up to it for me.

The game is bigger and better. There is so much to do because of all the Islands. Upgrading your ship will take quite some time and ship overtakes. That is a big part of the game. Its pretty much an awesome priategame with a great story.
Im on Seq 5 / 13

And game looks as good as it can on 360s POS hardware. The game runs pretty smooth (aka 30fps Laughing )

Im enjoying the game.

But when I started playing today I noticed a really long load time and then my save game from yesterday is gone. Seems like the long load time is the game reinstalling. Anyone have this problem with the PS3 version?

It took ages for me for the initial loading but the same happened with AC3 on PS3.

i think the game doesn't look as good as AC3, for some reason there is something that feels weird, not sure what.

The game IS smoother than AC3 (runs sometimes more than 30fps !) though on PS3 and has less aliasing... Dunno what to think about it yet, i thought the PS4 trailers were looking like shit too so compared to these, I don't think the PS3 version differ that much !

You should check out the new trailers, the difference is huge, ps3 version is missing weather effects and alot of other stuff

I have played all day long. Beside a freeze then an disk authorisation failure (using truncate method) I did not had any issue. The game graphics is not worse then AC3 had also the gameplay is more or less the same (talking about the fight mechanics) but I guess AC was not played because it's a great hack&slash game. I am loving it so far.

I haven't lost my mind. I know exactly where I left it.

my personal IMO : graphically it looks the same as AC 2/3 Revelations or AC 3 , but this version only runs in 720p at 30fps with no weather and lighting effects , medium textures and no AA and water is kinda more pixalated

the pc/xbone/ps4 version on the other hand will have all of that and run at 1080p at 60fps

Really getting into this game, the story seems good so far, the voice acting is great... enemies seem far too easy to kill as mentioned above... somewhat easier than the previous games.

Putting an IMO to avoid people shitting on you comparing AC2/ Revelations with AC:IV, two different installments from one engine where one is more improved than the other, doesn't look the same when you're not playing the game on an old valve TV since the first game Rolling Eyes

Depends on what you're playing though, because I played the 360 version and it's - except small minor bits - a SHITLOAD better than AC III in all kinds of ways. The majority of issues and critique came from PS3 players as it seems right now.

So a new AC game using the same engine and running on the same hardware, looks about the same as the previous games? Very strange indeed.

^It does, but the DLC doesn't work so far. Nothing new added, not even the ship items.

So, you're telling me AC 2 and/or Revelations (which use an older version of the engine) are exactly the same as AC III/IV (which have been improved significantly in terms of animations and else), tell me about it, I'm excited to hear your voice on this.

It was improved, but I didn't see a significant leap in tech between AC2 and AC3. Since AC3 already pushed the PS3 to its limits, I can hardly expect a leap with this one.

Whether AC III pushed limits or not, is arguable. Jump was pretty evident, if not graphically, but rather gameplay, fluid animations for once, not like 'snap here, snap there'. I think the Anvil to AnvilNEXT improvement was a good thing.

Gameplay wise, AC III loses against IV in all manners. I do not expect much differences to the PS4 version, since the rumors that all they did was raise draw distance, foliage and aliasing are likely to happen.
