yeah, didn't like the looks of IV/Play. I'll stick with the nice clean mameui. Wanted to see if Sega's Airline Pilots or Airline Pilots Deluxe was working yet but still looks like it's not. I'm guessing the performance of Hard Drivin' is still pretty bad too.
So i have two MAME Cabs, one standup, one cocktail. I recently replaced the PCs with Nano PCs. Best move ever. But i have always wanted a complete CHD set for MAME, and would love one for MESS.
Well Archive.org has a complete 0.149 ROM and CHD!!!!! sets for download.(HTTP and Torrent) And there connection is fast. Took only a night to DL 290 Gigs of MAME goodness. And they have the complete MESS 0.149 CHD set for download, need to clear some space for those though lol.
Except MAME is at 0.150 now Still, it's a great feeling to get everything updated isn't it? I recently updated to 0.150 full but I left out the CHDs... too damned large What sort of cabs have you got? Did you build them yourself?
rpcs3(PS3 Emulator) builds coming more frequently these days, still only PS3 brows, but at least speed is incersing, commercial games in the next 2 to 3 years?

I know. But ill just do the sequential update or run .149 for a while.
I have an old mad planets standup cab that was gutted before i got it. Build my own control panel. And my cocktail cab is an old Ms. Pac-man also in disrepair when i got it. Built a custom control panel for it as well.
I had 6 cabs at one time, bought them all from a Arcade that was going under. I got 6 empty cabinets for $100!!!!
But my gem is my 14ft Classic Skee Ball i rebuilt. won it on ebay for $99. A little sweat equity and some new .25 cent switches and shes done. Still hunting for a ticket dispenser that's not outrageous. And i only have 6 wooden balls, so i disabled the ball release switch.
Please do, my good man! I envy American and Canadian arcade gamers so much, since you guys have a huge - thriving! - arcade scene and it's been dead for many, many years in Norway Hell, it was dying in the UK too. It's a childhood dream of mine to have my own cabs but moving to Norway has pretty much destroyed that... so now I feed off other's happiness with THEIR cabs
Well I'm proper envious mate Canada, NA and England still have a pretty decent arcade community (one would say thriving in the UK and NA, not sure about Canada) but it's DEAD here in Norway I'm going to have to build a bartop when I get the cash.. and boy am I looking forward to it
November 15, 2013: Plans for the next release - It's time for speed!
Think PPSSPP is already fast on your PC? Or is it running a little slow in your mobile device?
Just wait until the next release. We are currently focusing hard on performance and have already made some really good improvements, for example FF:CC wasn't really playable on Nexus 4 but on current development builds it's pretty smooth! And GTA runs fullspeed on nVidia Shield with only a frameskip of 1.
Obviously this doesn't mean that a Galaxy Y will suddenly play God of War, but whatever device you have, there will be improvement.
Stay tuned!
November 1, 2013: PPSSPP one year anniversary - 0.9.5 released!
Two months since the last release, and today's the 1-year anniversary of the PPSSPP project! What better day to release a new version? While nothing is perfect, there have been plenty of improvements since the last one, much thanks to all our contributors! Here's a shortlist of top new features:
Atrac3+ plugin no longer required! Thanks Maxim for hard reverse-engineering work
Many, many emulation fixes, including:
bezier/spline curve support, fixing Loco Roco and others
stencil clear emulation, fixing Final Fantasy IV text
Android-x86 support
Post-processing shaders like FXAA, scanlines, vignette
More solid save states (we will try to keep them working from now on. Save states only upgrade forward, not backward to older versions though)
Change render resolution independently of window size
Massive debugger improvements on Windows, by Kingcom and unknownbrackets (GE)
Win32 menu bar is now translatable. Language changes are applied instantly.
Win32: Ability to store PPSSPP's config files and memory stick files in places other than the same directory
Qt audio fixed, Symbian audio and ffmpeg is now threaded for more consistent media processing
Haptic feedback support for mobile devices
Accurate system information for mobile devices
Analog controller support for Blackberry
Windows installer (coming soon)
Enjoy!
Please note that it often takes a few hours to roll out an update on Google Play, so you may not see it immediately.
As far as I know, the only Saturn content on the PSP is the ability to play as Maria once you finish the game. None of the Saturn-exclusive rooms/secrets are in the PSP version. The PSP one does have faster loading times than the PS1 but that was never really a problem when playing from ISO anyhow
~edit~
Oh and this, some dialogue changes;
I don't know about you, but I prefer the original dialogue "What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets, but enough talk! Have at you!" Classic

No, you can play as Maria/Richter from the beginning, there arenew items, new familiars, different localization, 2 new locations (-1 versus Saturn, PSP version lacks either garden or prison, can't recall) + some fixes for old bugs.
I wouldn't bother about it if only there was english patch/translation for Saturn version. But there is none.
Nah, rcps3 is just a debugger at the moment - it can play a hombrew version of Tetris and despite what some may think, I doubt we'll be seeing playable commercial games for many years yet - if at all. The FFXIII image above is fake

There really aren't. The PSP version is the PS1 version, it's just got a script change and speedups. There's no extra content and it's not like the Saturn version either.
as well as a port of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. While being based on the original PS version of the game, this port features Maria as a boss and playable character (after beating the game once), a new script, new voice acting and changed sound effects.
Quote:
A port of Symphony of the Night was included as an unlockable bonus content in Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for the Sony PlayStation Portable which was released October 23, 2007 in North America, November 8, 2007 in Japan, and February 18, 2008 in Europe. The English translations outside of the Japanese release features a redone script and new voice acting, with the option to use the original Japanese voices. It is a port of the PlayStation version, but contains some additions and changes. Maria Renard is also a playable character and a boss in the PSP version, who has different gameplay from her playable appearance in the Saturn version. Like the Xbox 360 version, "I Am The Wind" is not played over the credits and is replaced by "Mournful Serenade", an English recording of the Japanese version's ending music.
No extra weapons, items, anything. The PSP version is based off the original Japanese PS1 release which had 7 familiars, but it's still the same game.
@sabin1981
Yes, there is, people who played said that small room under the first gate actually features small part of the garden. Plus, yes, Maria (Richter is a given for both versions).
I'm not sure I understand why are you arguing with me. You want to talk me out or something? That is silly and ain't gonna work, there is no way you can change my option here, man, I've already made up my mind long ago. PSP version of SoTN and FF Agito is the only 2 games that left for me to play on PSP and then I'm done with the platform (unless by some miracle they release Bravery Default for PSP).
I'm not trying to do anything except correct misinformation :\ Those "areas" you're talking about are glitches and not part of the game by default, you can access them with glitch/exploits in the original PS1 version too, so no -- there AREN'T extra areas in the PSP version. All I'm saying is that you're expecting something that doesn't exist - if you want to keep believing then go right ahead, I'm sorry I offended you

No, you can't, actually, there is no Garden (even if it is small part) in original PS1 version. Only in Saturn/PSP.

You didn't, you just confused me. It really seemed like you were trying to talk me out, haha.
But Castlevania isn't just the one example why I don't find all these PPSSPP updates worthy. Performance is cool and everything, but what the point of games experience a lot of annoying or even game breaking glitches? FF:CC, GoW, Star Ocean, Castlevania - they all still have old problems (just check the threads for each on the official forums, I often visit them). I don't see the point of performance when you still can't play games properly.
Naw, I wasn't trying to talk you out - I was just trying to correct you so that you don't waste your time expecting something only to eventually get the game working and realise "Oh shit.. there's nothing new after all" while at the same time giving you an alternative option for playing the game The localisation is subjective, some like the better closer-to-original translation, but I prefer the classic on and absolutely hate Alucard's namby-pamby new voice >:[ As for the area glitches not being in PS1 version? Yes you can and yes it is. I'm sorry but, again, you're wrong I'm not trying to be a dick here.. I just know what I'm talking about when it comes to SotN
Saturn. Fully working.
PS1. Glitched out and non-working.
PSP. Same as PS1, glitched out and non-working.
There's still a lot of issues with PPSSPP, absolutely, there's a huge depth/distance issue with Phantasy Star Portable 2, where half the screen effects, sprites and objects won't even appear on screen until you're standing in "just" the right position or until you're within inches of them. It's a shame and I absolutely agree, fixing compatibility should come before performance increases
fixing compatibility should come before performance increases
It just seems rational to me. You can cope with low performance, there is at least an option to deal with it - overclock your CPU or even buy a new rig. But when it comes to glicthes you can't actually do anything, dead end (unless, well, you feel like learning appropriate coding language and besides just that - console architecture).
DraculaX was in-game/playable for how long? 2 years now, I think? And since then SoTN never worked.
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
