a lot of those shots would have been epic for a commercial... but an epic music video it does not make. It's just purdy artsy shots to music that doesn't fit but damn aren't some of those shots purdy.

There is a story in this. Shortly it's about power corrupting the boy and him neglecting his sister.
They used to build houses from cardboard in Russia, so the carpets were used as an insulation and sound mufflers. But it become a tradition of sorts (as I presume the buildings have thicker walls now and some internal heating).
