so, i'm using a netgear usb wifi adapter to connect to our wifi here. Works all fine, except whenever i reboot pc (or the usb cable disconnects briefly) the card isn't "reinstalled" as NETGEAR blabla adapter", but as a generic "wireless network adapter", which obviously doesn't work (yet it shows as working device lol). Then i have to uninstall it and the ghost netgear adapter. Once done that, i can click scan for hardware and it reinstalls it properly.
Just tried to uninstall netgear app and the driver, but i couldn't reinstall it lol. When i do, it tells me to insert the adapter and then it automatically gets installed as that generic wireless network adapter again and the installer (netgear app installer) can't find it anymore. Had to do a freaking system restore to get it back working.
God i don't miss using netgear stuff. I've never had luck with their shit.
Have you ever tried using device priorities in network properties? Basically change the wireless adapter to be on a higher priority?
@spykez it's not that it's lower priority, it's that my adapter gets the wrong drivers installed . I have to each time uninstall the generic drivers and then remove the old ghost adapter and only then it applies the real drivers. It's a real mess lol.
and dingo, yeah, that's the root of the problem rofl.
