Not trying to offend anyone, but a LARGE percentage of truckdrivers from eastern europe (especially Lithuania) drive like this.

High risk factor - and almost NO time saved. Its just idiotic to drive like that on bendy Norwegian roads. And they also seem to forget the winter... trying to drive over the mountain with summer tyres -.-

Im sure Kristian have seen it all :/

They only care if anyone coming towards is of equal mass or something similar.
Same in Estonia, btw. Our Southern neighbours are batshit insane.

They get paid more for faster deliveries. It has got less to do with "hurr durr, Eastern european dumb" and more to do with poverty and what "a little extra" can do to help them. So essentially it is about survival, even though that seems very contradictory.

Go figure. :/

It's called being irresponsible and selfish, full stop. When you gamble a small fortune in goods you're transporting combined with the potential lives of others, you're a giant cunt, no excuse AT ALL. Don't defend assholes like that. If you need money that badly, do another job where you only put your own life in danger instead of that of others.

One time when my wife had drove us to her parents a russian truck driver started tailing us for half a km honking on us without any good reason. As my wife just got her driving license, he got her pretty stressed out. For the whole time he could easly overtake us.

Actually, i would call it "hurr durr" as you say seeing as they risk lives of others for a bit more cash.

This should be no surprise to you.
Most people do not care more for the lives of others when they think of the survival of their own.

Hate trucks, hopefully we'll invent the transporter like in Star Trek and they'll all end up jobless Very Happy

Actually combine that with 3d printed houses, robots that do everything and everyone will end up jobeless, except the engineers that build the robots and the programmers.

Similar situations can be seen here in Poland - be it Polish, Lithuanian or Romanian driver (or almost any other). And we have some curvy roads as well, especially in southern parts of the country. Yours are at least in good conditions Very Happy
Another thing is, when one truck tries to overtake another one on the highway - most of the very few kilometers we have, have only 2 lanes in each direction, so when one trucks autocruise is capped at 89.9 and the other at 90, the maneuver takes ages while blocking everyone else. But the driver seems like he'd die without doing this, he'll save 30 for his next stop...

Don't forget to mention the state their rust bucket trucks are in.

Had some Lithuanian truck driver in Geel (Belgium), his truck was losing oil and was speeding at 100 where he could only go 70. Ignored us when we made motions trying to make him stop. It's one thing to be speeding, but to do it with an unsafe vehicle... just a timebomb on the road tbh.

in our law, trucks are enabled to go over the speed limit of 90km/h for a max of 1minute, in order to overtake

Yes deelix, I see a lot of shitty driving by eastern europeans all the time.

As for those in the vid, they didnt just blindly overtake.
Most eastern europeans got CB/walkie talkies in their truck.
Some truck at front tells the other on the radio it's safe, so they can overtake in turns. Quite normal for them to do it that way.
Many norwegians do the same.. They use phone, and not cb tho.

Also, those 3 in the vid lost their job because of that vid.

I hate you.

I've driven a truck. The things you see in that job..

The russians would be the ones taking the most liberties in traffic.

It's insane to me that they don't limit the max number of miles these guys can go per day. Because they limit only the number of hours they can drive per day and not the actual distance this actually promotes shit like this. If they were to limit distance then this wouldn't tempt drivers to act like such assholes.

It was obviously a joke... and im sure there are good drivers in Latvia and Lithuania, but some of them really do drive like Russians.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate

Pretty much explains itself:
Lithuania: 11.1
Latvia: 10.8
Estonia: 6.5
Norway: 4.3

A few months ago traffic police here stopped a truck and the Polish driver that was behind the wheel blew 2.73 blood alcohol level. The legal limit here is 0.30. He didn't have the money to pay the huge fine so he was sent to jail for 50 days and was banned from driving in Serbia.
