Any suggestions?  (the bad thing I can not even re-install the original game since I lost the original setup images in an external hd crash...)

I had the same issue, only with the P2P version instead of the RLD one. The only way to make it work was to reinstall everything from scratch (I removed all the savegames too just in case), though I don't know if there are less annoying ways to fix that problem. |

Had the same, after some googling, got my fix: delete xgame folder in documents/my games/bioshock infinite folder (the one containing all .ini files)

For me it was the top result when searching "bioshock infinite black screen on startup"
Edit: oh just finished it.. About the ending: DID NOT EXPECT THAT!

Yeah honestly, i'm going to wait till the other parts are done (if there are more than 1 still on it's way..), this one was rather short and was kinda disappointed for it to finish that quickly

stutters are back...damn stutters.
when i first played the game i had them but did some tweaks and was all smooth but now i dont have the save anymore . game with vsync on feels like 10 fps but without it i have lots of tearing.
oh well, for 2 hours i can live with it.

Use d3doverrider & turn on tripple buffering.
Infinite is one of those few games along with crysis3 that doesn't turn on tripple buffering when you enable vsync, hence anything below 60fps drops your fps instantly to 30fps instead of going to 58fps or whatever.
It's fucking annoying, d3doverrider basicly forces it on.
