I gave the game another go, regardless. Embarassed

Liking it so far, despite an "unfinished" state.
I didn't encounter any bugs so far, and I am used to play alpha/early access games so my thought may not be valuable.

At least the game has no "always online" restriction, right ? Laughing

not only fans. i doubt there is any sane person which can trully enjoy this poor excuse of a space game.

I know one person claiming they love it and cant put it down, they did the same thing for Rome 2 as well. Pretending they experienced no problems at all with either game

Previous games also weren't designed entirely around using a 360 controller (though I don't think you can even lock on with one).
There are multiple complaints about joysticks being... problematic currently at best.

But.. I mean how could they have known that people would want to use a joystick...

Still nobody know where one can buy ships? I even tried to land on one to talk with the captain for coming over, and still nothing.

Sure, it gives me one right off the bat in story, but sandbox is nothing more than doing random mission over and over at the moment.

I hope you don't mean "where to buy flyable ships?" because.. well.. you can't. This is a one-ship game Sad

seriously, the more i play, the more i see the flaws and the shallowness in this game. It's borderline (borderline, fuck it, it IS) insulting.

You don't say. Razz

Anyhow, to quote myself.
zmed wrote:
Um...anyone ever got around to actually buying ships/stations? I've been asking dozens of ships for ship dealer locations and nobody know anything. They happily direct me towards all sorts of merchants and officers, except shipyards.

I assume stations are done through architects, but so far, not a single ship dealer in sight.

I really start to wonder if these features are just buried under a ton of convoluted consolified shit, or just didn't make it to the release build. The fact that not a single ship/npc knows where to find a ship dealer speaks louder than anything.

EDIT: not sure why I bother anyways. It seems trading is a freaking baby sitting job anyways. You have to go to each pickup/dropoff point on stations to queue up freighter tasks. Gone are the days of having a fleet of traders.

I shudder to think how they managed to fuck up station building. Not like I found anyone actually doing it yet on the net, but still. They look gorgeous, I would love to have my own, but oh boy am I skeptical...

I'd have been too embarrassed to release this as it is. I guess they invested too much time and money not to.But shame on them fuckers, they should have released this as an Aplha and been honest with it's status instead of lying to their customers

So glad i didn't invest in this Alpha.

After talking to him, after a few seconds the lighting should change from the usual blue to bright orange, after the jump is finished. That's when you need to get back into your ship.

That's exactly what I'm attempting, but so far it's scan-the-stations and do-random-missions, and nothing else. No buying ships for your fleet, no building stations, etc. Oh, you can also loot crap on stations, just coz. Rolling Eyes

If nothing else, the shitstorm this game is generating is epic.

I've played for an hour or two, the game suffers all the same flaws that the X series did.. seems the developers really don't think anything through or learn anything.

Game has some pretty nice atmosphere and I actually quite like the highway system. It's just the rest of the game is beyond repair for anything but a banal shooting gallery so far. I was expecting disappointment but this is following my expectations too well here!

They did a really good job of ruining what was good about the X-series and drove the hammer in by alienating their own fanbase with the streamlined features that aren't so streamlined anyway. I'm skeptical any number of patches/mods will bring this game anywhere near what modders did for the X3 too, but we have a decade of waiting to find out. Laughing

im a space-sim newbie so i cant say that i like this game or not. just started and wanted to be a 1-man-army doing this or that. buying cheap, selling for more, completing the crew, upgrading ships, killing bad guys and helping good guys. never played any other space games like that so i have only my dreams and expectations. right now i spent 2 hours with campaign, driving through all these highways, finding someone, recruting someone. Now girl's told me to find an engineer just after i saved my tradeship. i somehow find a mission giver which asked me to do something. Ofcourse i travel there and i realized he asked me to damage one ship o_0 or at least marker shows something that can be destroyed. then alot of angry ships came for me and then i died.

Conclusion is that space overwhelmed me by its size or at least ive been deluded by that size. its definitely a game for everybody. im going to try it once again because that overwhelming feeling of being a small piece of spacescrap is somehow fascinating.

This.

Considering it is an offline game, they should have used some randomizing scripts to auto-generate building setups.
I don't know how huge is the ingame universe, I am just afraid I will never know.
I have never finished any X games. Very Happy

You need to find a dock with a ship icon, it looks like a small ship. And dock there, there will be a ship builder you can talk too.
To automate trade you need a station, then hire a manager and tell him what to trade and with which ships.
It's still an X game, it's just sort of hidden away Sad
