I like their ideas but I'm hesitant to kickstart a game that doesn't have anything substantial other than concept art.
I know they need the kickstarter money to develop the game, but I guess I don't want this much risk.
Didn't they post some in-game videos? Or was that some kind of animation? Coulda' sworn there was an in-game battle video..
They've released a couple of interactive mini-slices of gameplay elements as well It's not much, granted, and may well end up with this not being funded.. but they are fun!
This looks like might not get funded. I mean, they had almost two months and the amount raised is not exactly stellar. The added goals are unrealistic ( those should have happened only if the game raised enough money, already ).
Shame, this was actually one of the more interesting kickstarters
9 days to go and they're at $407k, only $93k more to go. This is most likely thanks to the influx of backers from Angry Joe and Kotaku, but grateful nonetheless
Aye, raising $124k in 4 days is nice - let's just hope they can raise the rest in one final stretch. It's a shame to see many KS get so close to the goal and then fail... losing everything. Surely there should be some wiggle or breathing room? "If you get within 5-10% of your goal we'll consider the KS a success and allow it" perhaps?
Nice! Good to see this has now a chance for backing.

Why dont they just get publishers to do ads for them. Oh wait ...

Wow, 716K (Kick+PP), who would've thought they'd make it this far.

I didn't!
But i'm really glad. They've even reached two of their stretch goals, which will give us the away missions and the boarding starbases. Modding tools would have been even nicer, but, hey you can't have them all. Really glad that this got funded.
Hi Backers,
Time for another update. We have been quite busy lately so there is lots of ground to cover. Actually, we have decided to split this update into several parts otherwise we would end up setting some kind of world record in terms of number of pages. Instead of one enormous update, we are going to do more frequent updates for the next month or so.
The upcoming updates will cover (in no particular order):
Game flow with the main GUI screens
Boarding combat visuals
Battle Orchestrator video
Design tiers & lore
New team members
New community site
Quite a large update with a lot of new content and information, including more mockups/concept of combat and ship usage.
They realised they were running out of money and wouldn't hit their date, so they took on a publisher to fund it. Originally it was meant to be out mid 2015, now alpha is Q3-2015, beta is Q4-2015 and release is a tentative Q1-2016.
I'm backing Shadowrun this month and then I'm done with Kickstarter. I've had enough of the constant extended delays because developers *always* underestimate the projects they undertake and massively overshoot their own estimations. I'll buy games when they're released and not a day before.

Heya Sabin, I hear yah on your perspective for sure. Getting kinda ticked at it, too. I'm curious though, what are your thoughts on Early Access games? I still want to take the approach of "supporting a developer" where I can, and I'm thinking if they have something to show for wanting us to back them, then maybe that's good? Just wondering your .02 cents

Who cares about gameplay. It's one of the few next-gen looking titles out there so BRING IT ON.
I would say Early Access and Kickstarter are very much the same. They can produce great things... but most of it is being abused.
I have EA titles that deserve all the support they could get, who do the things right with even delivering a fun experience and taking notice of the flaws/bugs being reported. Sadly I have experienced EA titles that are ran by people whom have no clue what they are doing or people stuck forever in development and then just release in a sad state just because they need to increase the 'funding' getting in.
One has to be very careful and read up a lot before pledging/buying Early Access titles I would say. I wouldn't dismiss both, since both can produce great games, but I'm with most whom are started to get annoyed at all the abuse these systems are getting or what kind of trends it introduces in an industry that has enough flaws already.
