I couldn't resist and downloaded the game out of curiosity to see how bad it is, and boy I was not disappointed. Good lord.
The last NFS that I "played" was Hot Pursuit 2010 (which I shift-deleted after one hour because I found it utterly dull), but this one, this is really on another level entirely.
First off, the 30fps lock is absolutely painful since eliminates the minimal sense of speed completely and makes the handling even more unresponsive than usual (not easy to achieve). It's simply inexcusable, and whoever coded this 'thing' should be ashamed.
But it's not just that. The game has one of the worst handling models that I've ever had the chance to try, ever, somewhere in the middle between a rototiller and a catamaran, with fubar sensitivity and rewarding factor below the zero (press A to awesome®, press B to slide to infinity and beyond ->instawin). The damage system is a joke as usual, you're terminator on wheels of course, accompanied by the scripted rubberbandy AI which is a trademark.
As if all this wasn't enough, no story mode/interesting campaign whatsoever this time around, because who cares about that, right? People want immediate fun! Therefore everything is a SEAMLESS (they really adorethis word) MP/SP cross-over bullshit with social ALLhailDerp integration which turns the game into a generic repetitive garbage, kinda like Burnout Paradise, only with far worse 'sense of exploration' and fun.
This series is truly the Call of Duty of racing games.
But the game is nextgen101, so one might assume "hey at least looks great, I'll play it for the great visuals!"
The only decent effect here is the animated condensation shader, the rest is utter blurry mess and vaseline bloom all over the place (also, no proper AA)

good review. I actually "piloted" huge catamaran once or twice so now I know what new nfs is what without playing it, thanks ! (srsly, I drove this shit)
and what is wrong with modern graphics ? Instead of focusing on removing aliasing, all they do is to add more deffered reflections, weird lighting to create even more aliased edges and shimmering on top of that... and add as more transpared 2d testures which aa wont work with.
If only all companies AT LEAST took metro LL way, great lighting and good inhouse aa method
