View Points synch is bugged or what? I syncronize one of the points in the first location, but it wont disapear from the map and it doesnt seem to do nothing. I don't remember if it was the first i did. Maybe they are not gone when synched in this one?

They appear as black little eagle icons when you have not yet visited them, then after synchronization they become white.
(I think the little arrow next to them is for fast travel notification but i haven't really checked.)

Seems to be very late.. I thought one of the design philosophies was that they wouldn't have a bunch of artificially locked content, yet I'm getting an increasing feeling that the plans for the final-tier upgrades are hidden down there as I can't seem to find them anywhere else.

Anyone playing with mouse and KB? How is it? Or do I need to dust off my Xbox controller? I remember that AC I/II was terrible without it...

Mouse and keyboard works fine imo. The game is responsive and I haven't had any of the issues from the first games with accidentally jumping off a building into mid-air or turning the wrong way.
My main complaint is the camera during boarding sessions. Combined with enemies spawning all over the place it's common to get attacked from off screen.

yeah but it's the same with X360 version. btw i find the keyboard even better to control than the x360 pad, especially on the ship. With the x360 controller, it's a pain to use the exploding barrels, cause you have to do a 180 (look back) that takes ages on a controller. On a kb+ mouse it's smooth as silk.

Ah yeah, I can imagine the frequent perspective shifting needed to use the different cannons/barrels efficiently would be annoying with a controller.

I've just had the most intense sea battle Ive ever had in game
At first it was me against 3 frigates, then a hunter appeared and 2 more large ships, I had to play cat and mouse, used all my bombs, mortars ammunition, thankfully two pirate allies came to my help, then more enemy ships and as if it wasn't enough the storm started raging, I didn't realize until I aw a huge wave comign straight at me BRACE YOURSELVES MOTHERFUCKERS!
Overall I boarded 5 ships and then took off. It was wicked fun.
I just wish it was a Sea Dogs remake, instead of assasins crap.

Btw, does anyone know if you can acquire the burning shot that some enemies use against you? It seems to deal insane damage.

You are right. I though its some bug related to Initiates link. I picked first mission from there to visit 3 view points.
Seems Ubisoft make good game when i completely lose hope in the franchise. After SC: Conviction i was thinking that Blacklist will be fail and it turned out to be very good game. After AC3 i though AC4 will be complete shit, but it is not. I like it a lot more than AC3.
Edward is qute similar to Ezio and this fact alone makes it batter than AC3. Not to mention they spend a lot of time into details this time and optimization is better than AC3. For now i get stable FPS in the first location.

One question:
Do the different "outfits" you can buy for Edward in Nassau have any real properties beside the "look"? I mean, have they armor value or something like that? They are not exactly "cheap" so to spend 8000 only for a different "look" is a bit... heavy, isnt it...
thx

Some of then have special abilities assigned to them, view all the costumes in the Edward Upgrade's screen and you can see what they do, most of them do nothing, some enhance stealth abilities, one of them has a chance of reflecting bullets etc.

Some outfits have special functions, but all of those have to be crafted or earned in other ways afaik. The ones you buy are just for show. Still, some of them look very nice imo, it's good that you get to customize your looks a bit.

thx | The bought ones are the same "stats", only some quest/challenges/crafted ones have different properties (the templar one, for instance, let you take more dmg).

You already have it, its called Heavy Shot, its used when close to another ship. You use it just by turning the camera to the side and firing (without aiming like you do with normal shot).

I "discovered" it accidentally, when i forgot to aim. I don't think its explained ingame or maybe i just missed it.

Quote: | Optimising games to run more efficiently on PC hardware isn't important, Assassin's Creed 4 associate producer Sylvain Trottier has claimed.
"It's always a question of compromise about the effect, how it looks, and the performance it takes from the system. On PC, usually you don't really care about the performance, because the idea is that if it's not [running] fast enough, you buy a bigger GPU." |
 |
You forgot the first paragraph bro:
Quote: | "The new platforms are a lot closer to PC, so my engineers could do the R&D on PC and we knew it would work fairly easily on next-gen platforms. It needed to be adapted, but everything does.
"It's always a question of compromise about the effect, how it looks, and the performance it takes from the system. On PC, usually you don't really care about the performance, because the idea is that if it's not [running] fast enough, you buy a bigger GPU. Once you get on console, you can't have this approach." |
What he says is that during R&D on PC they don't care about performance, but once they have to move to consoles, they need to start adapting and optimizing.
This wasn't a comment about their philosophy regarding the PC version.
It was a comment about their philosophy during R&D, before console builds have even began to appear. They even say "once you get on console" which implies this follows later.
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat being said, I am not saying unoptimized PC ports isn't Ubisoft's philosophy, just not what the dude meant.

"a phenomenon."
