How about you check for iehighutil.exe running in the background.

Well, due to really poor bandwidth of my internet connection, I downloaded Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Black Box repack off tpb from one of the 'uncertified' uploaders. Ended up with some nasty Bitcoin Miner. Laughing

wwing.exe sitting in "C:\Users\[my_user_name]\AppData\Roaming\NVIDIA"

That was a clever one - firing up only when my PC was supposedly idling. Supposedly means when there was no input from keyboard or mouse. Gamepad wasn't included. Checking for high CPU or GPU activity apparently wasn't included either. As a result, after a brief period of gaming, ACIV was going slow-mo, rendering like 5 frames per second.

Process wwing.exe also added itself to Autorun, being described as "Keyboard., Inc." (or something like that). So folks, keep an eye on it.

EDIT

Regarding CPU performance on 4-core setups. You can try the following:

fire up Assassin's Creed IV -> Alt + Tab to desktop -> launch Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Escape) -> in Processes tab right-click on AC4BFSP.exe -> Set Affinity... -> uncheck CPU 0

It somehow makes the game use 3 cores instead of just one, but I'm not sure if it has any effect on the actual performance.

And now I image you as the Predator, climbing trees undetected like a sneaky panther, looking for preys hidden in the dense foliage..

Yeah I can understand that, you use sleeping darts on a animal and then when you get close the game suddenly prompts you to press a button to skin the poor creature while it's sleeping but still alive. Razz
(And that's pretty much how some of the stealth oriented missions go as well, sneaking through the foliage using the new cover mechanic to attack guards and drag them into it unnoticed or shooting them with the blowgun since it's silent although still active guards get a bit suspicious when they discover a pile of guys sleeping in the open.)

Any reason to switch from the 3DM v9 crack to v10? And are the saves compatible?

Hey,

Is RLD release working fine for you guys?
Can't get single player exe to work, it always crashes at desktop (plus Windows Defender bitches about a virus) Sad

Having no problems playing RLD version so far.
Maybe not all crack files were copied successfully to the install directory because of the virusscanner?

Alright, thanks. It works now with 3DM's, but I get extreme lag.
I managed to make it run fine once and play for 5 minutes but then it crashed to desktop.
By extreme lag I mean I can't even move my mouse properly to get around the menu. I guess I will just skip that game.

Did you remove the steam_api.dll file from RELOADED's crack?

Just had an awesome naval battle. I was attacking a convoy close to one of my forts and was attacked by two hunters./ I led them on a merry chase within range of my fort defenses and the fort sank them both for me.

Was playing on a 32 inch lcd monitor and swapped over to my 22 in HD monitor, the difference in graphics is night and day.

The manifest file should be uplay_install.manifest do you have that in the game folder?
(The rest is just smaller errors and such, I have a lot of those in the log files as well.)

EDIT: Here's mine, game updated it in a patch some days ago but it was the only file altered so I don't know what it contains but it might help. Smile

Yes, I have uplay_install.manifest in AC IV game folder.

It's the exact same file that I have, it matches the size.

Manifest is unique for each edition, yours won't work. I tried gazillions of them but had to do reinstall.

Wonder what it could be then unless the file is corrupt or if it's trying to access it without sufficient privileges (UAC enabled so you start UPlay with administrative privileges by right clicking on the exe and selecting the "Start as admininistrator" option.)

Figures, it's probably using the UPlay account then along with install location and other system info if needed.

I tried lauching AC4BFSP.exe directly from game folder but I get "Unable to find Ubisoft Game Launcher, please re-install AC IV"

Starting Uplay with "as admin" is a no go either.
