Im going to stick to buying retail PS4 games unless the game I want is digital download only but its unlikely to be that expensive. Maybe even US retail
Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
There gonna lock it down Zeel i can feel it coming
they can't really lock it down without massively fucking up experience for everyone. what can they do, block access to US PSN account from European IP? not gonna happen. I don't even think it's a problem since there aren't many Europeans who buy from US PSN, most just couldn't be bothered making separate accounts and buying prepaid cards etc.
I guess they could region lock the games, but wouldn't that just lock down the multiplayer part?
I think they could easily adapt the current PC system, like on Steam, and only allow buying games for specific regions.
Back when PS3 was launched, digital distribution wasn't really a big thing for consoles and even on PCs it was just starting to really take off.
These days it's the thing - consoles are heavily focused on all things digital now, so it wouldn't be surprising to seem them putting more effort into the system and do it by looking at the best.

they already do that. you can't just go to US PSN store and buy any game with your european credit/debit card, it won't work. requires more effort than that, you need to buy US PSN prepaid cards, enter them into your US PSN account and only then you should be able to buy US priced games for your US PSN account only.

I know, I posted that entire process here just a few days ago, remember?
Also while you buy a game for a specific account - you can still play the game from any account on that same PS3.
My point was they could restrict you doing even that. There are Steam cards as well, but they don't allow you to get around regional restrictions or pricing.
I think the problem for Sony would be that PS3 is still in play - if they change the account system for PS4 too much, they would need to handle PS3 somehow as well.
but but it's cheaper than building mid range pc that will run at same or better setting exactly the same games
yes, troll, it is cheaper. you can easily re-sell disc based console games, or wait a few months and buy used game way way cheaper. no one forces you to buy digital version of the game for same price as vastly superior retail disc version (we only consider it because it's cheaper to buy from US PSN store). also you get tons of great games from ps+ membership, forgot about that? many more casual gaming people i know don't even buy games on ps3, they just subscribe to ps+ and play whatever they get for free.
Pretty much covered already, but yeah.. there will be plenty of platform exclusives so whether you can build a comparative PC for the price of a PS4/XB with a year of their respective online services or not, it's the games that still make the system and there will still be a lot of exclusives. EA titles will no doubt still follow the same insulting bullshit of NextGen Engine® only available on NextGen® consoles as well >_<
Please allow me to illustrate the way I feel about this, with my response from the NFS 2013 thread:

Replace 'game' with 'console' and voilà, you have my response here
Seriously though, how fucking dumb are they? This is ridiculous. Xbox One-country-matters-rest-we-dont-know-about. How the fuck do you lock your fucking output to NTSC, when you're planning to ship to countries that use PAL and one of your main features is HDMI passthrough? Idiots.
I'll say it again, anyone paying the full 500 Euros here in Europe, for this underpowered, undersupported, huge brick of a device is an idiot, sorry. This once again shows what market they're targeting. Hint: it's not Europe, nor is it Asia.
PS4 games in Norway:
Expert: 450-499 NOK for each game (Normal price for todays console games at decent chains)
CDON: 599 NOK(!) for each game.
Thats a HUGE fucking difference. Im afraid its only a deal they will have in 1-2 months to sell a lot of playstations and the games. Expert have decent deals now and the, but online stores are usually 20% cheaper.
When thats said, the PS4 will only be 3499 at expert (store only price!)
Im gonna get there early! Called earlier and heard Expert XL in Sandefjord is gonna get quite a few PS4s Only 4 more days

Too bad that most people forget the attitude the manufacturer has when it comes down to make or break a system. Just throw a game at them and say you changed and all is forgiven.
Ah well, same reason why some publisher can continue doing what they do without giving a fuck.
So Sony moffo's make ps4 100 euro cheaper then xbox one and then make the prices of the games more expensive. sneaky bastards
Isn't it the developers who set the prices for PSN games? Thought EA was in bed with Microsoft now and until i know the default game prices on Sony VS Microsoft i'm inclined to think it's a bit of a sabotage to make people go for cheaper games at Microsoft. I would be AMAZED if Sony conciously made their games more expensive than Microsoft. It would be laughably arrogantfor them to think they would get away with that because...Sony.
nand was already dumped, so what could they announce related to dumping? maybe they found something useful for hacking in the nand.
well nand dumb doesn't mean much anyway, even with nand dumped console can still remain unhacked for 5 years. at least xbox scene is alive, organized and determined, unlike pathetic PS scene full of drama and attention kiddies.
And i'm also sure that it would be cool with a hacked console, but i'm also sure that this generation will be tailor made for online experiences, so in the end we would miss out on a lot. Or they might just be able to force update your consoles at will if they want.
