If they lie I pretty much strike them off my list unless they happen to show a lot of skill in a specific area I care about.

Most CVs I see have this massive list of "Technical Skills" - Mainly programming languages, scripting languages and generic computing skills. Alongside this list you tend to get a number of previous projects/jobs/education which relate to those skills (either on the CV/in the cover letter..) and more often than not half of the things on that initial skill list don't match up with the experience noted. Those things are the first things I'll ask in the interview, both because I already know how you've used the other skills but also because it could be total BS.

If it is BS then 8/10 they're never getting a job near me. I think people assume that sticking a few extra languages down isn't going to hurt and in a lot of interviews I'm sure it wouldn't, just hope you don't get someone like me on the day Wink!

I should point out I've been burnt by doing the same when I first left university, I naively put C on my list of skills as I'd done some embedded C on microcontrollers. During the interview I was handed 5 large blocks of C and was asked to explain what they did.. I did not get that job Wink.

I see lots of CVs in hiring positions on my team (mostly public health epidemiologists/analysts), and given that F/E bilingualism is considered an asset here way more than I expect "say" they speak french. But really, I could give a shit. Even someone with half-assed french knowledge is better than zero (like me Wink) Not to mention all of my asian colleagues who suck at english but are incredible at programming/statistics.

I guess my point being that if you possess the actual "core" skill set needed (language should never be one of them), you should be fine Smile

I got the job. I got the fuckin job, humpers! after almost 2 years of helpdesk..the paradise of routing and switching has come.

they said that 90% of the interaction with french ppl will be over mail/chat so this saved my ass as I can understand and write ( google translate great help also) better than I can talk.

Had lots of interviews this year but this one, coupled with a topic on the hump, was the winner!
Happy now..my hands are kinda shaking.

Haha, everything went better than expected. Very Happy Congrats! I'm happy for you, I know what it feels like to struggle so much for a job.

I've just had my old contract terminated for good, so I'll have to start my not-so-epic quest, too. Working with my father is ok to survive, but I need something proper that can guarantee me a decent life.

We always aim to please, that goes without saying
Oh and we might need a couple of additional dancing bears, so my Zeel.. *winks*

It's actually very easy. Our tutor FireMaster will teach you everything. He has great experience, he's even hosted parties at Buckingham Palace for Sir Elton John.

We already discussed this a bit... I think now is the time to pitch it to the hump's "job providers", ixi grinhurt
