The corrupted shadows you are talking about are tiny shadowmaps.

Switching to stencil shadows via that command leads to some super dark shadows that at times eg make the eyes of the characters if a shadow covers them super dark, or entirely missing shadows.

You are trading one problem (that is the expected output albeit a little glitchy) for another (that is the incorrect output meaning a higher chance of something looking "wrong").

edited for clarity!

You are right but i prefer the way it was in original and ssas rather than corruption.
But yeah. You are correct Smile

Nope, in motion the difference is greater and immediately noticeable.

Not that I know of sadly. I played it with the original FOV since when you're crouched, it's actually proper-ish. You could try to open the console (ctrl + alt + tilde) and try to experiment with these commands and see what happens:

Quote:
vid_pixelaspect = -1, from 1 to 5 in 0.1 increments at 1 (or 1.2 experiment) removes the strip, when it is more narrow image parameters horizontally.
xr_viewscale = # # two parameters from 0 to 1 in increments of 0.1 stretches the image as you wish.

try those commands

xr_viewscale = # # two parameters from 0 to 1 in increments of 0.1 stretches the image as you wish. let's see how to use this can be done the normal 16:10 's original with stripes: command "vid_pixelaspect -1" (or 1.2) does the same as "auto" in the menu , a slightly elongated image: now write "xr_viewscale 0.90 1" and get a normal 16:10:

vid_pixelaspect = -1, from 1 to 5 steps of 0.1 in-1 (or 1.2 experiment) removes the strip when it is other image parameters narrow horizontally. if not enough FOV for some reason, you can use it

Does SweetFx work with OpenGL at all?
(I thought it was just D3D9.dll for DirectX 9 and DXGI.dll for DX10/11 applications.)

Q: Can I use this with a OpenGL games?
A: SweetFX does not currently support OpenGL but hopefully in the future it will. For now trying using the opengl wrapper mentioned in the readme.
Work is being done on a new injector with OpenGL support but it's not ready yet.

Just use
xr_shadowmapmode 0 and it will change shadows to "original" version and nothing will be corrupted then! the shadows actually are higher qulity this way it seems.
read here
http://pastebin.com/atGxqU4d

also this disables color filter
xr_lod = 0

and those control gamma and blacks
vid_gamma 0.5 - this is default and it is good.
vid_black 0 . defalut is 0.5 higher and 0 is much better

examples
first is original, second my fixed
 Spoiler:

look at fixed corruption on models and fixed blacks. not sure if I will play with disabled color filter tho

Do commands entered from the console persist? Or do I have to type the same thing every launch of the game?

Yes but not related to games. It's a tech demo render of OTOY's Octane renderer. http://www.fxguide.com/featured/octane-render-realtime-ray-tracing/
