This has been the best Assassins Creed for me..... I was seriously burnt out on it by when 3 came around ...... wasn't expecting much for 4 but boy did it surprise me ..... in a good way
Fairly decent comparison between the major consoles - Xbox One excluded for some reason, no PC either. Seems like it's PS4>WiiU>PS3/360 -- both PS360 are fairly equal, 360 is sharper but PS3 has better AO/shadows.
After downloading an upcoming title update, new PlayStation 4 owners will be able to increase the resolution on Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag to 1080p.
According to a post on the official Ubisoft blog, the game currently runs at 900p, so "some players might not even be able to tell the difference." However, "Those who can spot the differences might note that the game would be, in some very subtle ways, slightly less crisp but a tiny bit smoother."
The blog explains that ACIV: Black Flag originally shipped at only 900p in order to ensure a steady framerate of 30fps. "The team then used the time between the ship date and the release to focus on a title update that could deliver native 1080p resolution on the PS4."
There's no word on whether the 1080p upgrade will come to Xbox One at any point, but the blog states that the patch includes other visual refinements that will make their way to both next-gen consoles, including an improved anti-aliasing technique. The blog explains, "Anti-aliasing is a technique used to diminish the occasional appearance of jagged edges in computer-generated graphics....Pay special attention to finer details like the ropes on the ships if you want to get an eyeful of what we’re talking about."
ACIV: Black Flag is available now on PS4, PS3, and Xbox 360 and on November 22 for Xbox One. No date was announced for the patch, but it's slated as "available shortly after release."

it's strange they say 30fps for the xbone and ps4 though... they have said in the past the game was running @ 60fps on next gen console.... might be a mistake?

The 1080p update came out for PS4 today. Still 30fps, but it's locked solid, no performance hit (previous version was 1600x900, hugely noticeable different because we're not upscaling anymore )
is this update automatic or what? I just installed the game and playing the SP.... I dont see any options for updating nor did the game prompt me at install to update... it DOES however say I need an update to play MP
Nice! now that Liberation HD is out all i need is to wait for AC4 DLC to end and then my marathon can begin on my list to play: AC1 - AC2 - Brotherhood - Revelations - AC3 - Liberation - AC4. 7 games lets see if i can handle it
