By the way even EU law provides substantial grounds to get a refund for digital goods, I really can't be arsed to actually start citing EU regulations and to find the relevant articles but remember there being a memo on changes the EU has been putting through since 2008 on digital purchases.

Well doesn't even have to go through a server in the Netherlands. I worded it badly. The reason behind the Luxembourg law is because their European seat is located there so by default that's the initial law. However when you purchase from their store the law that is applicable is where the consumer is from (talking of consumer laws when I mention law btw). But let's say the consumer law is worse in your country than the one from Luxembourg is used by default.
I know it is rather simplistic, after all I never studied law. But it basically boils down to that.
If they would come back at you that they provided a service therefor are not applicable to NL law you could use the NL server argument but even then your consumer rights will supersede their EULA.

Ah I thought you meant local Luxembourg law instead of general European law, the problem with directly calling on European law is that it is impossible. You cannot directly call on most of the EU regulation because they are written down as guide lines wherein a country must write their own law (as in comply to the guidelines but freedom of choice for everything that is not put down in the guideline). This creates an incredibly wide playing field for companies to get out of their obligations. You could argue in court that the specific law in your country does not correlate to the European guide line but that is an entirely different ball game (one you don't want to get into).
By the way found the European memo thing on happenstance:
http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_MEMO-11-450_en.htm?locale=en
If I remember correctly they already implemented most of these proposals.

Ooh thanks for the link ragedoctor Nice read up on it. Haven't followed much of EU law since I moved to Sweden last year. (might be because my Swedish isn't good enough to follow programs with such information )

obviously there was no testing. Because that would imply exposing this turd to people.

If they keep their promised 'weekly patch cycle' steady, there's a good chance that in around 6 months from now the game will be finally playable. This is still a very optimistic vision of the future, though.

Did anyone in here ever get as far as building a station? I was playing it for awhile until some trade bugs stop me dead in my tracks. I enjoy the game, despite dead looking NPCs and cut and paste station interiors. The game shipped in a terribly buggy state, but even so, its better than reviewers say and when bugs and certain features are added/ fixed - should be a worthy game. Here is a cut and paste of somenone on Egosoft forums comparing station building between X3 and XR:
"It's TOO complex.
Seriously, i thought they were simplifying the economy to cater to a larger audience, they sure as hell didn't.
Here's an example of X3 vs X:R
Building a space station:
X3:
1) hire a mammoth
2) go to a shipyard
3) order the mammoth to dock
4) buy the station(WITH CASH) you would like
5) order the mammoth to place the station where you would like
DONE!
X:R
1) buy a construction ship from a shipyard
2) Pray the ship yard has enough materials to make the construction ship
3) Hire an architect
4) find a building location and order the construction ship to build the station you would like
5) write down all of the materials you need for the station
6) order your traders to buy the materials to make the station or wait for NPC's to sell the materials
7) Pray that you are not enemies with a faction that has complete control over the reasources you need (PMC and the campaign.....)
Cool provide enough money to the construction ship if it doesn't have enough
9) Wait
10) wait....
11) and wait some more.........
DONE!.....
kinda.....
you now have to plan for modules that also require more resources
Oh and forgot the station manager and specialists you have to hire...... "

I think it was their goal to have the NPCs handle things and you basically just give an order to build a station and the AI will handle the details that you had to do yourself in the previous games.
That's the philosophy they wanted to apply to everything to make it so there is less micromanagement... and they failed completely because that shit doesn't fucking work.
At least when we did all that ourselves we could make sure it would work. Now you can just wait and hope that the AI does what you want it to.
It's just stupid anyway. Trying to fix what isn't broken.. they should have just improved the UI and it would have been fine, but instead they just made it worse (which didn't seem possible to me).
I never asked for this.
I'm never buying an egosoft game ever again, that's for sure.
but yeah you're right, with patches and mods this could eventually become a decent game. I still feel horribly cheated by their videos and promotions before release so I'm bitter and I can't ever forgive them for it. They cannot be trusted.

Yeah, forgot about 'Rome' lol WTF is happening to the scene now? Endless piles of utter shit, continuously 'hyped' up, and spurted out, a shadow of what one expected, and were left with, well, shit??
Been a bad year guys (apart from Kerbal)

yeah sure they weren't all equally bad. xrebirth definitely takes the cake by far.
And it's still not quite as bad as the king of all fuckups, sword of the stars 2.
nothing worked in that game.
