I think it's been the same throughout the series, melee combat is laughably easy because the enemies surround you but only ever attack one at a time, allowing you to simply stand there and counter any and every attack - sometimes another will attack while you're in the middle of an animation but the counter symbol still pops up which means you can break your own combat animation to immediately counter. It's the counter that makes it easy - it's unblockable, unmissable, offers several combat options the enemy has no defence against and is pretty much the Awesome Button. Hell, you can even defend against rifle shots as well, since all you have to do is press a button and grab the nearest enemy to use as a human shield.

.... but damn if the game isn't still fantastic nonetheless Very Happy Stealth is fun and while it is optional, I've been really enjoying stalking the enemy and taking them out one-by-one predator style -- and I don't even have the blow dart/rope dart yet either ^_^ 30hrs+ in and I'm only 34% synchronised, huge game is huge!

yeah, I thing the game is awesome

still I miss the panic factor, which in Crysis 1 was insanely amusing - a group of 3 enemies, I run by cloaked on speed (predator style), grab one and dissapear in the nearby bushes - they start to panic, scream, shoot blind.. Laughing

Tell me 'bout it. I'm 29 hours in and have 30% completion. I'm amazed how Neon managed to get a full 100% sync in 42 hours.

I can't seem the answer to this anywhere: does full sync in AC4 have any effect on gameplay, or is it purely for achievement-hunters? Also, does the difficulty start to pick up later? Right now I've done some missions in Havana and it seems like a complete cakewalk so far.

Was thinking of buying this game, but holy fuck the pc editions are a fucking mess. Buy this and get these things, buy this slightly more expensive edition and get this as well. Fuck this shit.

Full sync doesn't affect gameplay, it's purely for achievement purposes/for fun; the difficulty doesn't pick up, the game is very easy throughout.

I guess I'm just experienced enough after 100%-ing 5 games, each game a year, so that it takes me little time to collect everything. Smile It's not like I do a speedrun, I also fuck around with guards etc.

I already have 45 hours clocked and I'm only at about 60% sync. I'm a very slow player, I guess. Very Happy Still, I have a feeling the remaining 40% will fly by quickly. The main story sequences are getting shorter and shorter, which is a bit of a bummer.

Esc > Database > Statistics. It will show time played.. but add a significant amount of time to that as it seems incredibly low. I played AC4 for 13 hours the other day (Sad Very Happy) and yet the counter only went up half that and right now only says 19hrs which is 10hrs less than I've really been playing Very Happy

I finished the game at 67% and it took me like 5 days(6-7 hours per day). But i wandered around the map alot. I finished almost every upgrade for the ship and i also chased down every templar hunt quest. But most of the collectables were boring as shit so after a while i played just main missions...

The part where we play at future was fucking awesome. I read almost anything from those documents which we get from hacking computers.

I assumed people interested in this period would be aware that pretty much every pirate of some renown was either hanged or cut down in real life. Razz

Sorry, but I just don't consider this a spoiler. But I'll edit my post anyway, in case someone's not familiar with this time period.

It only counts the time when you're moving. If you're standing still or looking at the menus (map, database), the timer will stop.

Is there someone who could hook me up with a save at around sequence 5-6-7 for the Reloaded version?

I had been playing quite a lot, almost fully upgraded ship and Edward, done a lot of the side missions, and then my harddisk started doing the dreaded clicking and it was a goner..

While i do enjoy the game i do not feel overly joyed to go through all the main story stuff again, i can deal with the side missions and upgrades i guess.

I have found some saves on the interwebs, but i think they are for either 3dm or the original version, they are at least in a different format and not recognizable, or the ones i did find said Damaged Save.

Thanks in advance!

Well I sure as hell haven't spent 10hrs standing still, haha. Oh and I saw a bunch of your ships in the Fleet so I gave 'em a nudge Smile The Fleet minigame is so painfully obvious it was designed for tablets and Facebook, making some of the "routes" incredibly - near unplayably - long and arduous in order to force you to get help from "friends" - though it is still fun and it brings in some additional income. Hell, there's even a new currency in the form of "diamonds" - so I'm wondering if this was meant as a full product at one point.

Very Happy Well, my testing indicates that that's when the counter stops. Maybe it stops on other occasions as well (like cutscenes), but I'm not sure. I'll have to do some more testing. Very Happy

As for the fleet minigame, it's just a time waster. It's not needed for anything really other than getting a few items and treasure maps. I like sending my ships on missions just so I can see how much money I can collect, but ship battles (inside the minigame) are getting a bit boring, so I probably won't waste much more time with that. I still have plans to capture a few level 50+ man o' wars and send them on missions before I quit using it, however. Very Happy

Also, if I can make a suggestion: Always send high level ships to your fleet because they can carry more cargo and have greater firepower. If you're gonna send weaker ships, salvage them for diamonds, so you can build more docks. I suggest capturing some lvl 25 brigs, lvl 29 frigates, and level 50 man o' wars. With a few of those, you should be set.

That someone died in history doesn't mean that that someone will also die in the game, and also doesn't give any info on how soon in the game this would happen Smile

Done! Finished final sequence, Steam tells me 52 hours played, 84% completion.

Awesome game from top to bottom, best AC so far for me. Sure, lots of the follow missions suck, I rated most of them with 1 star, but the game is still incredible. They streamlined the combat and all the gimmicks a lot, and I enjoy that. Never used all the bombs from Revelations, and having a choice of sword/knife/heavy was pretty useless as well. Sure it was fun to switch up the animations, but not really necessary.

Now I'll do some more collecting and hacking, and then the Aveline story.

AC tries to stay at least somewhat faithful to real life history. Even though they take many liberties, the characters always die in similar circumstance as their real life counterparts did.

I also don't recall stating when in the actual game he will die, only that it happens too soon.

As far as I know, you can only earn those trade goods from battles inside the Fleet minigame. Whenever you win a battle you get random amount of goods and "diamonds" Smile

I really, really enjoyed the ship combat and upgrading my vessel. It reminded me of the first week of Voyager Century Online Beta, those were fun days.

Wish someone made a proper ship game (might even be MMO) that isn't a Chinese grindfest or a casual cash trap.

See? There's definitely something screwy with the in-game timer not tallying correctly.. unless Xenthalon idled in-game for 18 hours Though saying that, Steam's timer is hardly the most accurate either Very Happy

Well, I often leave my game minimized for hours (just because I can Twisted Evil), so if Steam counts that, it definitely can't be good. Very Happy

Oh Steam does, I've noticed that Steam counts as long as the EXE is running - I've seen my gameplay time going up when "idling" for card drops.. heh.
