They said it will only have about 3 tiers of advancement out of 10, but I'm also prepared for the biggest bugfest ever in recorded history. That way, I can only be pleasantly surprised.
Well, with that tagline, I'm not sure I want to watch that video now.
But seriously, with their pokemon aesthetic, the worrying focus on superfluous shit and other such things, I have incredibly low expectation for this one.
And to think I was once so hyped that I literally linked every little crap I found on their reddit feed here...
I would have liked some alien collecting/crossbreeding/cloning, but I don't think it is in there. Kind of like Creatures or Poke-Spore. Introduce new creatures onto planets and see what happens etc.

this is what they promised us way back when right? being able to catch and combine creatures, ala the game creatures, or pokemon or w/e
That guy is the only reason why I couldn't bear listening to their podcast even when they had half-decent guests on. When they discuss a topic and he blurts out "moronic idea #8932675" and either of the other hosts calls him out on it, he devolves into a "I can shout louder so I'm right" retard. You can see his photo in the dictionary under "obnoxious fuckwit".
Anyways, watched the video above. Pretty much what I expected from the building aspect. The dude didn't show anything that was really disheartening so far.
Well...except for the mobs going poof when they die. That's facepalm material.
Don't get me started on streamers. I can't stand TotalBiscuit alone, he acts like a big knowitall yet does the silliest mistakes. With someone else though he gets even more terrible, because he can blame his mistakes on others. Ugh. I like most of the Yogscast guys, they aren't good gamers (tm) either, but at least they play very well together and seem to have fun doing so.
Still pretty excited for Starbound, but I never hopped on the hype-train to begin with.
Wasnt that to be expected in the first minutes of gameplay or am I missing something?
It feels like I'm missing something here too.. all I said was that this is Terraria with a space ship, the developers were trying to sell it as this grand adventure when really all it's just a reskin of Terraria :\ I don't know whether that was expected or not, but that is what it is.

yea i sorta get the same vibe from this, i must say i'm getting less and less interested in this the more i see.
it really feels like it's just an update to terraria. meh, maybe edge of space might trurn out better.

I was expecting something different to Terraria, but the developers are one-trick ponies it seems -- and for the record, Terraria bored me silly. I'm not a fan of craft-heavy games.
Well of course if you didnt liked Terraria there were near to no chances that this would be fit for you, since it's been known for a while that it would be a lot like Terraria, but with more exploration
This has always seemed like a Terraria clone, only with planets and ships.. Terraria would definitely be on my top 10 list of best PC games ever, so yes, looking forward to this
Mining and building looks less pain in the ass than in Terraria, thanks to the tools which lets to mine 2x2 with the default multitool or 3x3 with a mining axe, maybe even more with more powerfull tools!!
There are screens and some videos out there for months , at which you can clearly see that its terraria 2.0 and now all of the sudden you "expected" more ?
I am just glad that we are getting a terraria 2.0 with SUPPORT, and NEW CONTENT. I for myself liked terraria ,but the lack of support the devs gave the game after a few months or so, killed it. So i hope Starbound will be different, and hopefully ,it will be more moddable too
Well given that this game has no multiplayer authentication system at all (yet) the yarr-version (which should arrive soon after the beta-release) will be playable online (much like early Minecraft versions or CubeWorld).
So basically we can all try it and see if it holds up to the hype.
