I don't fancy reading through this whole thread, has anyone who has purchased a PS4 had the blue light problem I have been reading about? I really don't want a disappointed kid on xmas morning. So it would be nice to know how common it is. According to the reviews on Amazon (UK site) it seems about half the people who have bought the console are having this problem or other problems making thier consoles unplayable.
I got one on release day that I pre-ordered from shopto
machine actually worked for about half an hour & got to download & install resogun, went into the kitchen & came back in & found the ps4 had shut down,So I switched back on but found it stayed on the flashing blue light,so phoned up sony customer services they taken some details down & said they would get another one to me by Tuesday (this was 5.30pm on Thursday) so thought this seemed ok,didnt fancy going back to shopto as I feel the ps4 would of been out of stock & would of had to wait a while for it to get replaced, anyway on Monday afternoon I received a knock on my door & there was a man with a box,i looked at the paperwork & was for me so I gathered it was my ps4 & it was,i told the man that I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow that it was going to be delivered via dpd,Only then found out he was a taxi driver & dpd paid him to deliver & collect the faulty ps4,never heard of taxi drivers doing this service before.but I wasn't complaining I got my ps4 a day earlier
Ive read of a few people of forums about having similar problems & getting it replaced by sony pretty fast so the service by sony is second to none.know quite a few people with ps4 & not heard of many problems with the machine I guess I was just inlucky,as for the replacement Im really impressed with the machine,

I don't have a ps4, but remember that someone that has a problem is MUCH more likely to go moan in the comments (due to frustration) where a satisfied customer is too busy playing to go write "everything's fine" on Amazon. I STRONGLY doubt half of the produced ps4s have problems, it would be insane...
Take it with a pinch of salt, but Sony reckons there's less than 1% return rate on the machine so far. As for people having issues on Amazon? Look for the "verified purchase" reviews, all the rest can be ignored.
Well I hope (as I expected) it was a lot of hot air. I feel like unpacking his PS4 just to be sure but then it won't be brand new, unopened on xmas day

shouldn't worry too much about it, actual number of failures is about 1% or less. and when it comes to amazon, people are always more likely to write a quick negative review when something isn't working for them. at the end of the day, it's electronic device, they all have some kind of failure rate and whatnot. that's why there is a warranty.

I was under the impression you could not leave a review unless you had purchased an item? After all what's to stop Xbox fans leaving negative reviews of Sony products and vice versa?

Nope, anyone can write a review - which is why I say look for the ones that have "verified purchase" next to it There will be some complaints about hardware, as Black said, but at least you know you're reading a review from someone that HAS the machine and not just trolling

I got mine from Asda Direct (UK) on launch day and havent really had any issues so far. The only weird minor problem is twice when I have powered the console on, there is no sound. Once I power it off and back on it was fine.
I tell you something, I had a PREOWNED launch machine - so not only was this thing released in 2006 but it was owned by someone else prior to me, so that beast had been through the wringer that's for sure. I binged liked fuck when I played it and it finally YLoD seven YEARS after it was released. I'd say that was a cracking lifetime for a console with Sabin Use® ^_^
9th September 2014?! Argh! I was kinda hoping for March! I ordered pre-ordered Destiny via Amazon which gives access the BETA which I hope will be much earlier!

I wonder if it'll use TressFX since both consoles have an AMD GPU.

As an ad on Spike's VGX site suggested earlier today, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is scheduled for a shipwreck on the PS4 and Xbox One in January 28. The Definitive Edition will include improved visuals, including TressFX, and all of the previously released multiplayer DLC. It will not support 3D visuals like the PC version. Definitive Edition is a collaborative effort between Crystal Dynamics, Nixxes and United Front Games. It's also already available for pre-order on Amazon.
