At some point in my life I made a very dumb mistake. It wasn't the creating of 2 steam account but splitting games between them.
Please never do that. Don't repeat my incredible dumb and weird decisions.

Why not use steam family sharing to play the games from one account on the other?

funny pic, but it conveniently ignores stuff like ps+, where you get tons of games for free for a few bucks a month, giving you insane value for your money. also ignores the fact that you can sell console games at nearly full price (not always), or buy used games for almost nothing, or just share games. don't hate, just wanting to put some balance in this comparison. it seems some very confused people think that THE ONLY way to play next gen console games is to pay 70 euros a pop, which couldn't be further from truth. i know so many people who just have ps3 (soon ps4), they just subscribe to ps+ and don't buy any games at all, because they have their hands full with all the free stuff ps+ provides.

Who the hell buys each next gen systen and copy of the same game AND 55 boxes of pop tarts. That's Diabetes type 2 at least right there.
It seems like the entire comparison is inconsistent but kudos to the dude who put effort in making it.
You can even lower it to $0 by trying isodemo

Tbh, I have a PS3 and I completed a lot of exclusive games on it yet I spent not even 200 euros on games. A lot of games I borrow from friends so I don't have to pay, and the rest I buy used for like 5-15 or so euros per game. So, gaming on PS3/Xbox 360 doesn't have too be too expensive either. Also, I share some games with friends, I got two close friends and we split the game price into 3 pieces and buy it (mostly for new games like AC4 etc.) and then we just share it cause PS3 can share games on up to 3 accounts.

Is that actually possible? I wanted to change my Steam name, so i emailed them asking if I could make another account and transfer the games across/share, and was told absolutely not! Games are tied to one account and one account only.

I'm with you on PS+ and buying used games, but you can never sell games at nearly full price. At least not in NL and we do have a pretty thriving used goods market. Even KZ4 doesn't go for more than 40 EUR already. On average it fetches 30-35 
Console games lose their value insanely quickly, even the high profile ones.
Not saying that it's different on PC (games are cheaper for that anyway), but full price or near it is definitely not true |

My point was :
the guy is claiming he saved 2000$ by switching to PC but he didn't mention how much he spent to build his gaming PC.
I won't spend less than this to build a real gaming rig from scratch.

But I agree it depend of what sort of games you are playing.
For FPS or Candy Crush (right ? Scaramonga ^^) you are good to go with a cheap prebuilt system and KB+Mouse.
I "need" all sort of damn expensive stuff (FFB Wheel, Hotas, TrackIR, Oculus, ...) because I am playing tons off unoptimized alpha, beta and simulations that will put any high specs rigs on their knees.
And I am a damn rich and stupid Geek ... hell I even just spent around 300€ just for my KB & mouse...
Also, I always build my rigs myself, thinking I will save some money but always ending stupidly buying expensive parts just to have some "more powahhh". 
Well, +4000$ was maybe a bit high
Although I am sure there are some guys here who shouldn't be far from this amount.
