Hi all Smile

Im wondering which movies will get nominated for the oscars in 2014... Trying to get a jump start on watching most of them...

Im pretty sure The Great Gatsby will get atleast one nomination and the same with Gravity...

Which movies do you think will get nomination?

BATMAN: What weighs six ounces, sits in a tree and is very dangerous?
ROBIN: A sparrow with a machine gun!

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."

great gatsby? for what? acting? script? if anything it'll get a nomination for costume and set.
Nothing about great Gatsby is oscar worthy.

Gravity for VFX.
prisoners will get a nom.
cptn philips will get a nom.
stoker will get a nom.
oblivion for vfx.
trance.
upstream colour.
lone ranger - gore always gets a nom when he strays from predictable.
not sure if place beyond the pines will get a nom.
obviously the hobbit
the hunt might make it... unless it was nominated last year.
mud
before midnight

that's all i can think of at the moment.
not a lot of good movies will get into the noms.
it'll get all political and personal.

The bad ones!

On a serious note... Don't know really. Never follow the oscars much. Would say: Gravity is most likely there. Haven't seen much of the movies that would go on the nominated list this year. Have a lot to catch up on Smile

The Book Thief will take everything. Nothing else stands a chance when there is a holocaust movie out Laughing

Lupita Nyong'o might take Best Supporting Actress though.

Gravity will take visual effects.

i think the only oscars gravity should be up for, are vfx, editing and cinematography. fx and cinematography MIGHT be possible, but it would not surprise me if it wins for editing.

if bullock won best actress for gravity, that would be a load of shit, she doesnt deserve it for this film. ditto for anything to do with script or best film. strip away the fancy visuals and you're not left with much else.

id love to see pacific rim win best oscar for fx though Very Happy at the very least it deserves a nomination.

Ohhh if there was anything impressive about the movie was the visuals, so yeah, it would be well-deserved, but it's the academy so a nomination isn't guaranteed Laughing

All Is Lost (2013), and Redford will probably be nominated for this one as well.

I can't stand anything positive about that crap movie even though the FX were nicely done, but the rest made it so so so bad that it doesn't matter much. And no making it bad on purpose still doesn't make it good in my book

Edit: I'm actually not proud saying this... But when I watched it in the cinema, I was more annoyed during pacific rim than I was while watching that Will and Jayden Smith movie (trust me there was still enough annoyance) if it wasn't for my girlfriend I would have walked out on it. Well both of them. Tho always funny to hear afterwards that she didn't like it at all either xD

After pacific rim and Jaydens world I was praising Elysium quit hard and when I saw it again few weeks ago I went: Njeh, not bad but not as good as I thought So yeah their awfulness really influenced me Laughing
