Because inside the DVD root there's a file named "padding.dat". The name itself says it all: it's just a padding, some 1 GB more to fill the disc and slow down the P2P distribution of the game. That file has to stay there for SFCURE to work, since a clone must replicate exactly the original structure. With a crack, that 1 GB useless file is not needed, so I think it's been removed.
Anyway, another StarForce release from RELOADED in a few minutes. Maybe they really cracked this game, and not used HOODLUM crack. At least, I hope so.

Can I use this crack (if it appears on GCW or whatever) and use it with a retail copy?

This is ridiculous - thanks to their copy protection, Im worried about if a retail copy will work for me (without installing any viruses) while Im sure a pirate copy will be fine. Genius.

why can't it be a coincidence? Do you think the .exe's are similar, or?
