And I'm sure for hunting to can get any long gun, you should even be able to get 50 cal...we can get them here... even a 338 would be a massive round and it is used for hunting too. 22 is a very good platform to start man, don't knock it... it trains you to aim and shoot well! you wont be scared or be anticipating the recoil so your form will get well from the start... once you master shooting fundamentals and learn to use a scope you can move on up!
and 22 LR supersonic or Mag would kill alot of things upto and including deer my friend, has a lot more to do with your shot placement than your round.
Good tips. Anything else in particular to think of as a beginner?
Stay away from those super cool Hollywood guns at first. Start cheap and basic! Cheap 22 rifle, decent shotty and a hand gun. Play around with em, research and ask people, join a range and shoot other people's guns and make decent decisions as to what to buy. I have sold more guns than I have kept simply because I made ill informed spur of the moment purchases.
Can you name brands that is both cheap and decent, for a beginners set? Or maybe one shouldn´t stare blind over brands?
Are guns something that can get better by using them btw? So used guns might be a good start gun ie...
Better? No but nothing wrong with buying used. I wanna say watch for cracks in barrels or any number of issues but honestly u won't encounter much issues.
Brands are good and bad. I review and research guns I don't know much about or if I want to research the best bang for the buck. U can do the same.
General guidelines for beginner brands that u can't go wrong with but won't break the bank
Shotguns: Mossberg 500, remington 870
Handguns : S&W, glock,
22: rugar sr22 or similar rugar rifles
Hunting or long range : remington 700 series
Isn't UK a massive gun owning country? For hunting I mean
i think you overestimate how many people are actually hunting. In the UK or the US for that matter Pretty sure it's a tiny little % number. Even a decimal % probably.

Did you buy that UTS-15 yet? Watched/Read alot of reviews and it always jammed, fell apart etc.
Hollywood gun right there (lol'd hard when I watched the first episode of Almost Human)
U own any other handguns.? Why Springfield for a handgun? Although looks like a proper range kit
Springfield makes some of the best handguns around, on top of that, their customer service is almost undefeatable.
I've owned other handguns, but I don't currently own them anymore due to selling them for one reason or another. Sold pretty much most of them to make ends meet the last couple years when I was struggling. Got things turned around so I can build my collection back up.
In order of what I've owned.
Taurus PT1911 .45:
I actually sold the PT1911 to get the 9mm since the ammo if getting stupid expensive for it to even practice with. It's like a dollar a round now, which since you've obviously spent time at a range, you know you can blow through 200 rounds easily in an hour.
Sig Sauer P250 9mm:
Probably one of Sig's greatest ideas at a completely modular pistol. The serial is etched into the trigger assembly which also pops out of the frame in a matter of seconds. Want a .45? Just buy the .45 kit which is like 150-200. Want a .357 sig? Buy the kit. Instead of buying another 500-600 dollar pistol, you could just buy the kit. Could also buy different sized frames which cost about 40-50 depending on where you got it. So if you had a conceal license, doesn't matter what combination you put together, it'll always be legal because of the serial is always the same.
Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm:
Probably the best one I've owned so far, and affordable as FUCK. Eats recoil like it's nothing. Ergonmics are some of the best. Trigger action was almost spot on, and with a trigger job you could modify it to work like a 1911's trigger. I sold it to fund the water cooling build earlier this year. Totally worth it.
Never had the money on hand for a Springfield since they cost a bit more, but....they're worth the cost. Now that I changed things around, I'm no longer struggling.
