About burning the cds to a single DVD. Make a folder and extract the contents of all the cds to it. There is a guide available elsewhere (written by Sneddo). I dont know if its against the rules to supply a link. You need a proggy 'orca'. Here's the link if I may
hxxp://www.sneddo.net/guides/Multiple_CDs_onto_DVD/Orca.Msi
Once you install Orca, run the programme and select file>open> point to Age of Empires III.msi. You get a list and scroll down to media and click on it. Now change the volume label to the same as the first and save. you can burn the contents now onto one dvd.
If you want to test, use an iso creator and install.

My lack of progression might be because I was playing without the cd mounted. I'll try with it mounted on a different computer.

I agree with nightlith 100%, nice to know I wasnt the only one completely dissapointed by this game. Basic RTS game with improved graphics. Maps are dissapointingly small.

I can't see my cursor in this game - does anyone else have this problem?
Radeon 9800 AIW - latest drivers and knocked back hardware acceleration to no avail.
-------
You don't need ORCA to get this to install from a single folder. Just use UltraISO to extract all CDs to a directory and then run setup.exe. No muss, no fuss.

well more playing about, i can run the game fine with no sound max settings everything high, but as soon as i try with sound enabled then after a few seconds it just exits to desktop after producing a buzzing noise. This is the only game i've ever had this problem with and again it did it in the demo also. There must be something to do with this and creative Audigy2 ZS cards.
I do have onboard sound Realtek, i might give that a whirl

If u have an on-board audio controller on the MB (ac97 for example), try to use it instead of the audigy.

What a buggy piece of crap. Units shoot through walls, all the land suddenly disappears and turns black for me, the game all of a sudden starts chugging and I can't even exit the game because it is going so slow.
I noticed this stuff in the demo too, I can't believe what passes QA these days

well i took out the audigy2 ZS and setup the onboard AC97 audio with latest drivers and guess what. Exactly the same, can only get to play for about 1 min then quits to desktop.
Time to uninstall this piece of junk game me thinks

I've a problem, it says:
Direct 3D initialization failed. Possible causes:
Old or corrupted graphics driver.
Direct 3D improperly installed.
Hardware acceleration disabled.
Starting the application with the workstation locked.
Running on Windows XP, got newest drivers and dirextX 9c. Any ideas?

Units shooting trough walls is a design choice by the developers, not a bug.

I have no idea why everyone has all those problems but i have no problems on a :
R9600 Pro (4.11 ATI Drivers) , 2.66Ghz , 768MB RAM , SB Live 5.1..
But the game appears to be buggy like shooting though walls etc...

Theres a pause key on your keyboard.
My problem is that the spoken dialogue takes a long time to actually be spoken...it will display the subtitles on the screen but wait 5-20 seconds before they actually begin talking, and the whole game waits for it to catch up.

Probably P or the Pause key. Either that or the game is broken for you.

At least I'm not the only one now where the sound craps out 10-15mins into the game.
Ha! Thought so: its game-related. Jeezz people.. I've had my Audigy2 ZS for a year with absolutely ZERO probs. AoE3 comes along and blame Ensemble for not testing against it. Enuff said. Gather will wait for a patch to correct as when this comes out in stores WATCH THE FLOOD of customers complaining. Good thing I have onboard sound BUT how can give up true 7.1? ha!

The funny thing is, mcmanic took out his audigy2 and enabled the AC97 sound, and he still had the problem. It might very well be something else (something you all have in common) in your systems that screws things up.
Or maybe the Audigy2 drivers interfear with the onboard sound when he enable it.
