Will PC users be getting an update that allows them to play with the next-gen Lara model?
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was designed and rebuilt from the ground up for next-generation consoles. At this time a PC update is not planned.
In fact you could read the "at the this time" as "ask us again later "
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Considering the Deus Ex HR Director's cut started as a WiiU exclusive, and then went multi-platform, I would've thought odds were good that this'll come to PC eventually.

Technically the same happened with Deus Ex Human Revolution DC. That was sold on the WiiU at full price and came to PC as an update/DLC for a substantially reduced price to those that own the base game and the respective DLC.
Yes and they sabotaged the point of the Wii U's version point of existence.
But just as there is a similarity, there is an important difference as well.
Originally it was going to be released on Wii U only, but the Wii U proved to be a flop and they delayed the Wii U port until they made PS360PC versions as well. The fact they delayed what was before an exclusive to port it to other platforms, means they lost faith in their Wii U endeavors so their choice to sabotage Wii U port's point of existence can be understood.
As PS4/XB1 don't have Wii U's problem, it would not be wise to do the same. It would be dumb.
After having collected many $60 from the PS4/XB1 versions? Sure, they can sell it for $5/$10 as a Steam upgrade.

Some of it does look a bit better, but not enough for me to justify paying $60 for this.... again. Maybe, if this ever drops to $10 in the bargain bin I'll pick it up. For now I'm perfectly content with the PC version.

I just couldn't ever go back to playing anything in 30fps - the experience is just so disconnected. For a while I thought 60 was okay, but since I play at 120 fps, I notice dips from 120 to 100. That proves to me with absolute certainty, that even higher than 120 fps is where the next frontier is (after 4k).
Too bad we now have consoles unable to cope with 1080p@60 ... Next gen ... right.
Sadly that's most likely the case. The hardware in these consoles is more than enough to produce >30fps in 1080p in TR without TressFX. Now, the improvements they did over the PC version PLUS the TressFX effect that is surely optimized as good as on PC () isn't really surprising me at all.
Achieving these at 60fps would actually mean that the PC version is actually a real PoS port with zero optimization and considering achieving a constant 60fps, including outdoors GPU intensive scene is almost impossible with TressFX in 1080p on PC, I can't say I'm really surprised at all.
Not sure why everyone was expecting more than 30fps ? Maybe 45 fps ? But constant 60fps in TR with all the bells and whistle on PS4 is delusional. Usually they enable VSYNC on consoles, which is probably the case here.
Now, another debate would be : why the hell is TressFX eating so much performances when PS3 games like Alice Madness or The Last of Us do have hair effects (maybe not as nice, but really similar) ? Only AMD can answer I guess...
The same can be said with AC4 on PC (might be worse though) in the end vs PS4 version running at 30fps...
All in all, it seems to me that these PS4 versions of these PC games are basically quick ports, with a few improvements in the case of TR but I hardly think they spent a lot of time on optimization (maybe for Xbone though, considering this one is a lot weaker).
And finally, considering the fact that Xbone has the exact same performances/rez as PS4, means that they obviously didn't optimize the game OR preferred to cap the game at 30fps even though PS4 could run it at maybe 45 fps ? Most likely this case....
Which leads me to another question : why the hell can PC gamers disable VSYNC or TressFX while console gamers can't ? Over the PS360 era, the only game I have in mind that can have VSYNC disabled in the menu is Bioshock Infinite (which allowed some indoors scene to run at 60fps on PS360 !). And like most people here from the PC section, I usually tend to remove any cap PC games have, so why are console games either capped at 30fps or 60fps in 90% of the case ? (I know, it's not true for every game, Killzone Shadow Fall on PS4 is a good example and will run from 30fps to 45fps every now and then).

True. It completely works that way. Its very hard to go back to lower once YOu know and are used to higher fidelity

There's one very unpleasant situation though that needs to be taken into account, and I'm starting to face it as we speak.
When your computer is getting old and you don't have the money to upgrade it, suddenly you start to realize that accepting them nasty 30fps again is the only salvation. And yes, even without motion blur! It's a compromise that makes the masterrace card tremble, but what can we do xD
I am about 40% through it (give or take) and I just find it boring.
i really dont understand the rave reviews it got.
Does it get better once you have beaten it maybe ?

Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
I am not going to fault the game, it looks gorgeous (even on my old box), sounds great and plays well, but I just find it boring :/

Things do pick up a bit but it's just more of the same, though there is a nice forest level where you get up in the trees and can stealthily snipe with the bow, I really enjoyed that section.
The gameplay was good but I hated the storyline, the lack of communication between all these people was seriously pissing me off. The actual tombs were fun but tiny, can't believe they removed some of them for dlc.
I think the tombs are fine. The problem is they are optional, useless and because of this, don't bring anything to the story and seem like "hey look, we are here because it's Tomb Raider after all "...
Previous TR games had epic tombs with epic traps (TR Anniversary comes to my minds with its trials) that were mandatory to continue the story. Sadly you are pretty much never trapped in this TR. Even Uncharted has more traps (just a little though, it doesn't come close to previous TR games).
I think that they learnt about this though and I expect them to include them more cleverly in TR2.
But then people on nfohump will troll because the game is linear, and doesn't let you have any free-will...

I don't think that anyone (sane at least) who likes/d Tomb Raider would complain if the developers decided to finally put several mandatory puzzles, tombs and platforming sequences where timing and reflexes do actually matter in a game with Tomb Raider in the title.

Well, for me neither the tombs nor the number of them were fine at all. The puzzles were very easy and sometimes plain obvious, compared to many excellent puzzles I experienced in Tomb Raider Anniversary for instance. So yeah, I was really disappointed by that aspecto of the game. Had the puzzles been up to the previous standards the game could have been a serious contender for my GOTY in 2013, which in the end, didn't even make the top 5.
