I didn't really like Post Mortem and you don't need to play it to understand everything in SL1 and 2.

You don't need to but it's recommended. Also atmosphere-wise it's a lot closer to SL1 than SL2 is.

PM was outdated even when it came out though and there are some REALLY weird puzzles towards the end, but still worth a playthrough just for the story imo.

I think Ride to Hell Retribution is what you're looking for! Possibly King's Bounty too.

Here are a few games that you should definitely check out if you like this genre:

Scratches: Director's Cut
A very creepy and eerie adventure from a few years back, I definitely recommend this. The devs are now working on a kickstarted game called "Asylum", which looks a very promising horror game too.

The Cat Lady
This is a really nicely written horror gem from recently, very atmospheric, unique, and I must say sometimes it's very sick, disturbing, and even depressing too, so it's not for the faint of heart.

The Lost Crown
An amazing and creepy ghost hunting adventure, if you can look past it's bad animations.

Dark Fall: Lost Souls
Another ghost hunting from the same guy who made Lost Crown, this is more darker and creepier even.

If you can stomach some naked pixels and vintage look you might want to try: Scratches, Dark Seed, Gabriel Knight 1/2, The White Chamber, Downfall, Post Mortem, Still Life 1 (didn't like sequel..), Amber, Barrow Hill, Exmortis (it's free), Harvester, Pathologic (more weird than scary, but still), Phantasmagoria, The 7th Guest..but I've surely missed some great ones.

Old is good when it comes to this genre. Razz

Good suggestions. Harvester is more weird (in a "wtf am I playing"-kind of way) than scary though, but I'd still play it just to see how totally and utterly nuts the developers were.

Are there any new horror game suggestions?

Neverending Nightmare seems like a messed up game.

This just got in.

Cargo.3-RELOADED

Only saw two screenshots of it. Has decent graphics, but don't know how scary/creepy/depressing it is...
