Well there is a "hd" in the title. If they don't upscale the resolution then it'll look like total shit on high def.

(assuming the original game has really low resolution)

From what I've played so far it seems to be a pretty good game, bit different what with the different "persona" outfits but still very familiar to those whom played AC3 or AC4, uses the game engine from AC4 from what I can tell, visually it's somewhat in-between 3 and 4 but performance is excellent, around 58 - 60 FPS constantly. Smile

Only played the first sequence so far which is as usual mostly a tutorial but first impressions are pretty good thus far.

EDIT: Various menus and options.

General options (There's a blood setting not shown as well.)

Controller settings and some camera options.

The various HUD elements you can toggle on/off.

Graphics (There's a VSync option as well, not shown in the screenshot.)

(AA is once again, low, medium, high and v.high which I think translates to FXAA and various presets but I am not fully sure on this, might be FXAA+MSAA as well.)

Customize controls

EDIT: And the starting dream sequence which uses a sort of 3D glasses effect?
(It's gone when the actual game starts thankfully.)

EDIT: Other screens.

From what I read the original version was around 8 hours long, upwards of 15 if you did all activities and such.

EDIT: And yeah chromatic aberration that's it, I forgot the name of the effect.
(And some other stuff, I should be used to it by now though considering I played Crysis 2 and 3, heh.)

That should only be during the flashback/dream at the start of the first sequence, unless there are other ones later in the game. Smile

~42 - ~52 fps with highest settings ~81% gpu usage..
Even an up-scaled vita game is too much to handle for ubisoft their optimization team Laughing

Edit: it's the AA option causing it, v.high = ~42 to ~52 fps.. while high gives rock solid 60 Laughing

And v-sync insta drop to 30...

Yeah something with Ubisoft and how they do Vsync (Or maybe it's just this game engine.) causes the framerate to cap to 30 on certain systems when enabled instead of being forced via the GPU drivers.

And yes I also noticed that MSAA really hits performance in this game too.
(I lose between 15 and 20 FPS when the game uses it's FXAA+MSAA combination.)

@JBeckman

So turning off v-sync and AA ingame, used NVCP for triple buffering, v-sync, 8x aa and 4x supersample and 16x AF.
Rock solid 60, with just 41% gpu usage and sharper image rather than the blurry mess of the ingame AA.
So if you do it via CCC, maybe you get better performance and IQ aswell Wink

Yes if I were to enforce MSAA or even SSAA via the CCC or if needed RadeonPro it could be better than what the game offers, SSAA should at least offer a comparably performance hit but with much higher display quality. Smile
(And without the subtle blur introduced with FXAA, I really wished post-processing AA was a entirely separate option but I guess Ubisoft thought this would be better for foliage and other transparent meshes like sail rigging or fences.)

EDIT: Tested downsampling briefly, it works pretty easy now that you just have to edit a few things in the registry but unfortunately it's not playable since it puts most of the menus off-screen.

EDIT: OK using a more compatible resolution made stuff work as intended.

From what they said on twitter on HD version:
Quote:
"We added 15 new side missions focused especially on Aveline's three personas (disguises)"
"Everything is improved: graphics, gameplay, cinematics, sound."
"All missions have been remastered and gameplay rebalanced."
"I know we support all resolutions and we worked to improve framerate drastically! "
