The neighbours below complained a lot that I was noisy. I was like, "really?". I sit at my PC 90% of the time, I use a chair on wheels, my PC speakers are at 10% volume tops.

One time they complained, I went down to their apartment to listen and was like "WTF, you find that LOUD?". Their reply was "yeah but it's the random noise of your games that are disruptive" <.< As if a TV is not random in noise.

Then a month or two later, she got a different boyfriend and since then, they've often got into very loud fights - and I mean LOUD. Until 2-3am, with throwing stuff, breaking stuff, shouting, slamming doors. Instead of breaking up with the jerk, she has been with him for over a year now. During that time, we wrecked the front door downstairs twice and caused all sorts of other damage.

Bottomline: people are selfish as FUCK and often need a good slap in the face. With a metal bat. With spikes through. There's a reason why people in less densely populated areas are happier - because people are retarded beyond belief and the more contact you have with them, the less happy you are. Customer support anyone? Twisted Evil It only takes driving around for 10 minutes to encounter at least 20 selfish assholes.

There's this CD called "Revenge CD" or something like that.
Pieces of most annoying sounds you can think of, i.e. wall drilling, train passing, child crying, etc
Has worked every time! Very Happy

I've put it on loop few times in the past but I've lost the damn cd Sad

You know what will solve all your problems... Get noise dampening + some new laminaat. It costs a bit but it's so worth it and it's quite easy. Check Quickstep or if you want it cheaper Gamma xD

It's not my apartment which has problems, but the upper floor of this house. I hardly doubt they will agree on paying a bucket load to have their floor make less sound Razz I'm actively looking for a different place, but it's not easy in a small shit hole like this, so i'll have to endure, sadly.

My advice was for the ginger_avatar tho Laughing

Doesn't cost a bucket load tho, it's not cheap either but the moment I deal with noisy neighbours from below I'll floor the apartment renting it or not.

I'm dealing with a noisy one next to me but sadly constructing another wall with soundproofing leaves damage after I move and this is a rented apartment Sad Otherwise I'd do it. Peace and quietness is very important to me.

My neighbours with 2 small kids can be quite noisy during the day and the early evening, which was getting really annoying at times. Got myself a set of top-notch wireless headphones, best investment ever!

It's even more effective if you wrap the baby in it.

Old houses like this (build in the 70's) have really bad insulation and it doesn't help that they removed 1 door in my living door which makes for 1 door less from their part of the house to mine which makes me hear them talk easily and that is fucking annoying. I did ask them to put up a new door, but they haven't done anything yet.

Fighting fire with fire is OK only when the neighbors are being inconsiderate and simply not giving a single fuck about you. This is half such a case here, but there is simply not much i can do about the kids. I know this. But the parents and the grandparents can try to do their part not to stomp on the floor with the kids and try making the kids behave when they mess around for extended periods. As i said earlier, this is friends of my mother so i have no intentions of becoming a dick towards them. I will endure this shit while i actively search for another place.

I don't remember the kids ages (or if you ever told us ) but if they are 5+ they are able to listen to what their parents and grandparents say, if they care is a whole different thing. Kids are pretty different, even at that age... My 6 year old cousin was told by my uncle ONCE not to jump on the wodden floors because of the people living downstairs. After that she even told other kids and adults not to make any noise and took it all very seriously. Probably a rare case tho, some kids(most?) are assholes!

Don't blame the kids, blame the parents and other people looking after them. When I was visiting my grandmother she always told me how to behave. The usual stuff, but some kids never learn those things and they won't by themselves.

Another thing: kids should be able to play, you can't force them to sit around and be quiet. Also I don't like the idea to put them in front of the TV and stare into that thing for hours. Let them play and make noise during the day, of course in moderation. If there's noise during the night and early morning hours, maybe you can talk to them or let your mother help you.

Buy ear plugs and get used to them (it's really cheap). It really works. Or noise cancelling headphones (not so cheap) like others said.

Kids should also be raised properly, and not run around like uncontrollable maniacs for the entire day. I don't blame the kids. I get angry at them, but at the end of the day, it's the parents i blame. Not a single damn carpet upstairs either.

I have ordered some proper earplugs Invasion, the ones i had is crap. I refuse to wear earplugs during the day though. If that is a necessity to cope then it's indeed a hazardous environment. So i'm trying to cope the best i can with this shit. Been here every day during the week now and during last weekend too. Wearing me the fuck down.

Edit: And now, for the first time i've listened to a howling baby for 3 hours. First time i've heard any baby, so a baby has been added to the mix. Well, fuck this shit i'm canceling our contract and letting nature take it's course. This is too much.

Sounds like moving out is the only option at this point. Straitjacketing kids apparently is illegal, tolerating the noise can only work for a couple of days, complaining a lot probably doesn't fix it either, same for revengeful acts, also the neighbors won't simply add some noise reducing foam/panels to their pavement because "it's not their problem" and wearing earplugs 24/7 isn't something that I would do..

Yep, i only wish they were more responsible and informant when they offered to rent me the apartment. But yeah, when my living room is under their living room, and my bedroom is under their kitchen it's kind of impossible to escape any noise whatsoever, and i know i can't start trying to force them to do not keep walking between those 2 rooms. It's quite sad, cause other than the noise i find it quite nice living here. Decent area and the apartment itself is good enough. But I also only see moving out as an option.

Well rather than creating my own thread:

Fucking retarded neighbour. Playing his system like he's playing in a club. It's a fricking appartment building.

What's worse is that this crap is going on for a while now. Even worse... he works for Securitas and doesn't even know Swedish law on this (while most of his job is acting on disturbance calls...). So me as a foreigner had to explain what the law says about disturbances and what the company (the ones renting out) rules are on this. Since he was throwing all kind of assumptions around.

the majority of young people these days... urgh. Sad

I'd like a copy of that to play when I drive by the many churches near my house that insist on blaring their bells on Sunday mornings before 7 A.M. mass...

Do you ever feel like you live in a metal box and you have people outside slamming into it with a hammer? I do Sad Got 2 whole days free of kids which has been the longest in weeks and they came back as a bad infection biting me twice as hard. Slamming of hard toys on the bare floor, tossing toys down the stairs. I slammed into the wall and suddenly there was some massive jumping going on and on for a while and i have no fucking clue what just happened. Was it retaliation for me interfering or was it a kid who thought it would be fun to respond to my wall pounding. This place will be the death of me. Tried calling up some other people who were renting, but i was too late with both :/ renting out in this shit hole is more word of mouth than ads in papers, so you got to be lucky.

I don't care if people consider this first world problems or whatever, just need somewhere to write out my frustration.

Not being able to relax is going to be a big problem for the next years. More and more people need to rent apartments and then we have: Kids and entertainment systems + derp youth with lame house parties.

I'm so gonna live in the middle of nowhere in a few years. Laughing

apartment complexes and such are a lot less personal and you wouldn't feel too guilty for calling the cops or the landlord. It's as bad as it gets in my position Razz
