The Musketeers, is set on the streets of seventeenth century Paris, where law and order is an idea more than a reality. In addition to being King Louis XIII’s personal bodyguards, Athos, Aramis and Porthos stand resolutely for social justice, honor, valor, love – and for the thrill of it.
Luke Pasqualino (Skins, The Borgias) stars as D’Artagnan alongside Tom Burke (Great Expectations, The Hour) as Athos, Santiago Cabrera (Merlin, Heroes) as Aramis and Howard Charles (Royal Shakespeare Company) as Porthos. Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Hour, The Thick Of It), Maimie McCoy (Loving Miss Hatto), Tamla Kari (Cuckoo, The Inbetweeners Movie) and Hugo Speer (Bedlam) also star in the 10-part series created by Adrian Hodges (My Week With Marilyn, Primeval)
I'm pretty sure it is NOT recommended for The Three Musketeers purists As for the entertainment value, it remains to be seen whether the tv series succeeds in that department.
ill grab it and give it a try. i tend to enjoy any and all of these kinds of films and shows, especially the musketeer stories.. i just love the setting, theyre great fantasy stories... shit, i even enjoyed andersons musketeers movie for the sheer spectacle of it (also milla. ok, mostly milla... )
always liked, how in dumas book, the three musketeers help the cheating queen and the cardinal was portrayed as the villain. While in reality, Richelieu was a great politician and did a lot of great things (for france anyway) and is revered as a national hero (of sorts).
Fun pilot. Good production, casting and mainly the plot moved well.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

But lets save the cheating queen
Taxes man, rise them, get dissed.

PR guys marketing this are a genius , they are using subliminal messages in trailers , that compare this to Assassin Creed 2 , from music to selected scenes to sentences from the game

or you imagining things.
Anyway, couldn't get past halfway through. Bored me to hell. And again we have a total spast as the king and yet the musketeers are loyal to him no matter what and fighting with the cardinals guard (and killing them) without repercussions ...
i would say ONLY if you enjoy this kind of theme/era
its not a substantial or clever show... but the characters are generally likeable enough, and i do enjoy these kinds of period stories, so i stick with it. but if you'll only watch a show if it tells really good stories or has amazing production values, then no, its not worth following.

I fully agree with it. I enjoy the setting so I'll keep watching it.

I guess I'll give it a watch then
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
i like the series. ive softened a LOT to it. it still feels kinda junky, but its that 'fun' high adventure kind where i just dont care, because the characters are fun, the actors play them well, and they get up to some crazy swordy adventures.
its just sad thinking in 9 weeks its all going to be over again
