I'm about that age and can use a joypad fine but I do struggle with quick QTEs sometimes.

Partly in defence of PC users who are incapable of using their right thumb, I remember the N64 and Turok64, learning how to use the analogue took a lot longer than 5 minutes.
Joypads work very well for certain genres but If you never use them you're going to have problems.

In defence of gamepads, I actually like to use one to control my media center. Using triggers to speed up video playback depending on how much you press it is such an awesome feature. It's as if gamepads were built for use as a media center remotes instead of games. Smile

@remyleblau Well, I'd propose you start playing dark souls on keyboard. And if you'll struggle with it like I did when I used a controller I'd say the same thing about your motor skills. Reading last few pages it sounds like you guys think it's impossible and just doesn't work, which is just wrong. You make it look like keyboard and mouse in dark souls is not viable. True, probably majority of players will pick a gamepad over keyboard and mouse in this game, but it certainly doesn't mean it's not as viable as using a controller. After giving it a hour or two to get used to how mouse feels in dark souls I played just fine. I gave same amount of time to getting used to gamepad, it didn't work. Doesn't mean I lack motor skills/hand dexterity, if I did I would probably not master touch typing for example. It's just that I am much more used to keyboard, which makes sense as I spend 16 hours/day working and playing games on keyboard and mouse.

Learn to read. I didn't say I can't (I play Spelunky with one). I said that dexterity gets worse with age, which is true, and what works for one person might be harder for another, which is also true.

Frankly, your lack of empathy and understanding in this is shocking. Just because something is easy for you, doesn't mean other people are morons if they find it harder.

and what game has that quick qte`s that you stuggle with it, c`mon. as for fpp, i`ve already wrote that that one particular genre may require more time so dunno why youre bringing it right now, either way its not relevant to the topic

erm, why the fuck would i use kb/m in a game thats poorly ported and thus doesnt have proper kb/m support? thats just plain stupid. for me, as for many other people, kb/m fix isnt enough so we use pad. if you wanna use kb/m, use it. from a technical point its flaws had been already described on previous pages.

how the fuck would i know if youre trolling or not, especially on hump:D either way, if you want empathy from a random person at internet forum because you cant handle gamepad controls, which, according to you, its because you`re in your mid-30s then you have more serious problems i guess. either way, last few pages were hilarious in ds thread, and now ds2 Very Happy thx

Good god, I should have never mentioned mouse and keyboard two pages ago, I created a domino effect of gigantic proportions Razz Laughing

But seriously, who gives a damn about personal preferences as long as there's free choice. To each their own, if someone wants to play the game with remotely controlled chopsticks and has a lot of fun with them, who am I to judge him and tell him what to do.

Oh, no, you misunderstand - I wasn't fishing for empathy. I was just shocked that you were so disconnected from people generally. The attitude of (paraphrasing) "Well, if you dexterity sucks then you can fuck off" is just somewhat callous; it's the stereotypical heartless gamer 'tude, maybe? Smile

I wish there was an option to just drop the torch on the ground. Those shadows while holding it and fighting are so crazy looking.

Then again, I guess that's part of the challenge because you have to choose between a torch or a shield.

It can take however long they wish, as long as they make the PC version an actual enhancement this time.
