uh....what? professional sports teams (any sport) or amateur team or any sorta group u would consider organized and that plays a sport has a list with ppl who start, play certain positions, sub etc this is called a roster....soccer didnt steal the term roster from anything...the WWE is more the joke saying they have "rosters"...they arent professional atheletes, they are employee's so really, it should be called the WWE employee list...

The database (rosters, whatever you want to call it) is the most accurate you are going to find anywhere. Thus; yes it will be good, though it does have it's faults and ommissions it's the largest and most in depth so you can't really fault it per se (especially as the game comes with a fully fledged database editor that will either allow you to edit the figures manually or other people to create a new database for you to download).
It's all good.

Since u do good reviews man, what kinda game is this? Simply managing a soccer club? no playing or watching games from the "owner's box" or something like that? Ive been lookin to play a new style of game and i havent gotten into many manager type games - only dynasty modes and career modes in hockey games and shit.
If u can atleast watch the games, like u edit the lines, make a few big trades and then watch ur guys on the field, i will prolly pick this up...but is it just full of menu's and numbers and text? no watching or playing in any of the games?
awaiting ur reply, thanks dude

Yes Football didn't steal the term roster because it doesn't use it! I know a roster is always used in Ice Hockey, but your collection of players in Football is called a squad.
The game is managing a football club. You can see the games go on through a 2d pitch and circular blobs representing players. You transfer players since it is a very big part of a manager's job. Set up training. Make the tactics your team will use but there are no 'lines' like in ice hockey, you have a starting 11 and 3-7 substitutes (depends on the competition) and your only allowed swap 3 of them with the starting 11 during the match.
If you want a good Ice Hockey manager game try NHL Eastside Hockey Manager, it's by the same group of people (sigames). I've never played it since I don't know enough about Ice Hockey but Football Manager is by far the best manager game for football so I'd say it's good.

Play football manager and you won't regret it. It is the best game ever made if you are into football.
I've been playing fm2005 ever since it came out, I play nearly everyday, in fact it is running right now. Perhaps the best part of the game is getting players at a young age possibly players with the description "wonderkid" and then train them up and in a few years you will see them become one of the best players in the world.
I am currently managing Tottenham and England and have got an amazing team with so many promising youngsters in my reserves.

Roster, Squad, it doesn't matter unless you want to argue semantics and be pedantic. They all mean the same thing more or less.
As for FM2006, well it's quite simply the best management game I've ever played. Beyond all the little details the most important aspect is that it feels alive - you truly believe that the database is full of living breathing individuals with unique properties and personality. You actually believe and become immersed in the world.
No matter it's failings, or shortcomings, you simply don't get this level of depth from any other management game.
I've recently been playing FIFA MANAGER 2006 and it's got one of the best interfaces and presentations on the market. It looks absolutely unbelievable. Unfortunately the depth of the game itself is rather thin on the ground and the 3D engine that is used to display the matches themselves is woefully inadequate in representing the full range of nuances in a footy game. It also boasts some great audio commentary from four very famous commentators.
It's the complete opposite for FM2006 however, with a rather unattractive spreadsheet appearance full of text and initially boring statistics. The matches are represented by either full text commentary or alternatively (and preferably) a mixture of text commentary alongside a 2D overhead view showing the players as blobs. It's not exactly breathtaking but it gets the job done and because it has a greateer level of detail in it's range of nuances it is nowhere near as predictable as it's rivals.
I said on another forum that I'd rather have a long term relationship with FM2006 and a one night stand with FIFA MANAGER 2006. This is the kind of game that FM is. It's a keeper, it's one your going to be playing from now until forever!
It's also not a complicated game either (and with the new ingame help system newcomers don't have any excuses).

Tut tut, that's very shallow.
I haven't seen Fifa manager but if it indeed has a great interface maybe it's time we see a synergy between the two opposite sides. Not that it will happen tho

FIFA management games are a POS.
FM2005 wasn't the top selling game in the UK last year for no reason!

Actually FIFA manager 2006 is fun, I'm enjoying playing it anyway and I usually bawk at the EA sports franchises as well. It has a lot of fun and nice features and as I said the interface is a joy to use. The 3D match engine makes a nice change as well, but like I said the whole game lacks the depth that FM2006 exhumes and for that reason once it finally gets released my attention will be completely diverted.
FIFA Manager 2006 is utlimately a pointless souless affair, but FM2006 is a much more worthwhile experience. If you don't like or follow football on the otherhand you might not realise what you are missing if you just plump for FIFA.
