The freemage promoter is apparently in the crag from what I read on the forums.
(Falagar - whose name is also a reference to a guy in M&M6 I believe. Razz )

The barrels:
-If its "dark" something, it gives an attribute boost, eg. dark red gives +1 might.
-If its "pulsing" something, it gives resistance, eg. pulsing white gives +1 air resist.

The freemage promotion:
After you free Falagar, he will be in the Crag. He gives the promotion quest to the Tower of Enigma. The problem is, promotion quest sometimes break, if you already explored the quests area, for example the Paladin quest breaks if you clear the ruins with the 2 specters in front before getting the q. The same is with Dwarfen Defender, if you kill the Cyclops, you wont be able to finish. And sadly, the same is true for the Archmage quest too, you need to do the secrets in the tower after getting the q.

So it's that bad with the class promotion quests? That's unfortunate.

The same also goes for if you do not have a class that uses those quests, you'll be stuck with some quest items that show up as usable in some locations but since you can't do promotion quests as in the earlier games (Where you could complete all of them and become honorary members.) there's no way to get rid of those items although thankfully quest items are not part of the normal inventory. Smile

I guess a lot of these bugs could have been avoided with better testing, expanding the Early-Access version to act 2 perhaps?

Hopefully whenever they release the first post-release patch for the game these issues can be fixed retroactively or how it's called.

I finished the tower before receiving the quest and I still got promoted to Archmage. The only weird thing is there was a scroll at the end of the tower that said something like "It's written in an unintelligible language, maybe you will find someone who can read it". But nothing about it ever came up again.

I will wait for it to be bought in some significant amount so the fat guy who were responsible for the development will get money for food and write a few patches...

They respawn due to a bug when you use Spirit Beacon to teleport. Even some bosses respawn, but sometimes it bugs out, like killing a mob just to have it instantly respawn for a few more times.

Is the light gem in the top center active?

Yellow means nearby enemies, red means combat and then you and whatever attacker will take turns moving around before attacking and during the AI's turn you can not do anything.

I've had it bug out if playing for a extended period of time as well, you enter a location and then you suddenly can't move at all so you have to load the autosave and try again, when this starts happening it's best to quit the game because it'll bug out more and more.
(Combat music won't stop playing, severe stuttering and eventually the game will gracefully crash - meaning there's no crash prompt or other notification.)

EDIT: Also while finishing a quest I encountered a flickering wall, turns out it wasn't a wall and behind there was some weird dwarf.

What the hell does that mean?

It's no "Ubimancer" but it might be some secret little encounter or easter-egg but I have no idea.

EDIT: Oh yeah, a explanation about the Ubimancer.

EDIT: Twin Peaks, some movie or book?

But the problem is in the game, as i could alt+tab just fine the moment it did nothing.

Yeah, this whole section is a Twin Peaks easter egg. The strange room looks exactly like The Black Lodge from the series. The dwarf was also in the series (although he looked different), the poem is one of the most iconic Twin Peaks quotes.

In which area did you find it?

My previous playthrough was with a pure human group of two "warriors" one crusader and one freemage.

This lead to a really annoying situation towards the end of the game when there were three locations with a dwarf, elf and a orc respectively and they were blocking me off since I had no member in the party of their respective races.
(So I couldn't complete the bestiary for example and I think one location holds a book I needed for a quest because I retraced most of the gameworld looking for it and found nothing.)

So I started over on Warrior difficulty with one of each race, a human freemage, a elf druid, a orc shaman and a dwarf runepriest.
(Trying to get the achievement for a full magic oriented party in the process, light magic was useful and the freemage got access to some decent stuff but it's fun getting the master and grandmaster tier spells for each element.)

Anyway with that little bit of info out of the way:
Quote:

It's the shaman's class promotion area, Owl Cave - you can access it anytime but you can't enter the dream realm outside of this quest and that's where these screens are from.

I stand corrected about the Dodge skill. Compared to the early access, they lowered the attack rating of the enemies a LOT. And by lot I mean the spiders who had 50 in EA, now have 7. Now its actually a curve, the stronger enemies are the same, mb a bit weaker, but against the early ones its useful even at low levels. Sorry about the confusion, I didn't bother to check them in the release version.

Late game hasn't changed much, if you want to have an evasion character, you have to go all out, maxing dodge and putting a lot of points in destiny. Then it remains moderately useful all through the game.

Fuck me this game is long. I'm not sure how much time exactly I've put in it, but it has been several "all day" sessions.

While it started out just right difficulty wise (on Adventurer), now I'm pretty much untouchable with more or less a party consisting of a fully leveled paladin, blade dancer, shield warden, and prime free mage.

Not sure if I've got the endurance to finish this, all the backtracking is getting kind of tedious despite the fact that I've loved it thusfar.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Had to give up on this for now, act 2 overworld and on is unplayable for me on my laptop
around 15 fps (with medium/high settings and fps capped at 30) with stuttering every step and crashes every 20 minutes, i dont know how they could fuck up a simple grid and turn based rpg this mutch it runs worse then crysis 3 or skyrim on ultra for me and whats worse is my laptop gets extremly hot playing this especally in shops or the woods around seahaven, found some threads on steam and ubi forums and it seems im not the only one, someones laptop allrdy fried because of this and there are a lot of complaints about the performance from act 2 onwards.
Even stranger is Rust and Blackguards which also use Unity run absolutely fine for me.

Yeah, the game has no optimization at all. I've even thought that the reloaded rls has a virus because my computer choked so much on this game.

Finished the game again with the new party, no blocked quests this time although I have two items that are related to class promotions I can not take.
(Also I could access the three race restricted dungeons but I missed out on a boss since I didn't have anyone of the prerequisite class.)

Now to try and use the spirit beacon exploit to respawn the area, unfortunate that the final dungeon won't be easily accessed though since that's where the really good loot is found.
(The Temple of Meow is OK as well but it's very short, about the size of the well cave in Sorpigal if not smaller.)

This is just one of many images I took of ranged attacks hitting critical areas.

(Seen numerous eye and head shots, a few knee and groin ones as well but this is the only one where I jammed the arrow up the ass of some creature, awesome accomplishment really, more so because he was in front of the party and facing them.)

This guy is apparently a bit special.
(But I don't know from where.)

And this quest is finally finished, some legacy eh?

 Spoiler:

(But there's nothing left to kill unless I manage to use the spirit beacon to respawn the world but it seems a bit random so it might not work, thus I'm stuck with this level 1 relic.)
